Thank you to everyone who joined us for our OktoberInvest panel discussion about the upcoming 2A ballot measure!

We’re grateful to Chief Murtha of Wheat Ridge Police Department Patrick Goff, City Manager for City of Wheat Ridge Government and Sara Miller, Aquatics Director for Wheat Ridge Parks and Recreation for sharing their time and expertise with our community.

We hope this discussion helped answer questions and provided useful information as you prepare to cast your vote this November.

Please note that Localworks does not advocate for or against this ballot measure. This event was intended to provide community members with an opportunity to learn, ask questions, and engage with information about the measure so they can make their own informed decisions at the ballot box.

The Explore44 sign at Hopper Hollow Park has made its very first switch! These businesses featured on the signs are chosen through a lottery system. This time, it’s El Cid’s Ci**rs.

Explore44 celebrates everything that makes the 44th Avenue corridor unique, from local businesses and restaurants to parks, trails and public art! Our goal is to eventually feature every eligible business along 44th Avenue.

Know a favorite spot along 44th Avenue? Share it in the comments, and if you're a business interested in being featured on the sign, send us an email at [email protected].

Your pet can also still participate in the costume contest by photo! So, if your pet is reactive, shy, or just not comfortable around crowds or other pets, no worries at all. Come by, grab a treat for them, and bring it home to your pet instead. 🐾

Wheat Ridge 101 is in full swing!

Every other year, in collaboration with the City of Wheat Ridge Government, Localworks hosts Wheat Ridge 101—a free seven-week course designed to help residents understand how the City of Wheat Ridge works and develop strategies for community input and engagement.

So far, the cohort has learned about government operations in various City departments like the City Manager’s office. This week, our cohort met at the Clear Creek Makerspace to learn about meaningful ways to get involved with the Wheat Ridge community, including how to navigate the City’s communication channels.

Over the next several weeks, the cohort will meet with representatives from Parks & Recreation, Public Works, Planning & Zoning, the WRPD, and more as they continue their journey to become knowledgeable and engaged residents.

On Thursday, September 24 at the Annual Wheat Ridge Business Awards Breakfast, Localworks was proud to recognize Katy Duncan with our Connected Citizen Award!

Katy has been a resident of Wheat Ridge for more than a decade. During this time, she has become one of the biggest champions for Wheat Ridge. Over four years ago, Localworks started hosting monthly Live Locals, and Katy was one of the first people to always be there, and always bring a friend!

Katy is always ready to lend a hand for the sake of success in our community. Katy is a kind & connected citizen who truly cares about our community, and knows that a huge part of that story is our local businesses.

We are pleased to honor this year’s winner of the Localworks Connected Citizen Award. Katy, you are a great friend to Localworks and to Wheat Ridge. We know that you will continue to connect your community for years to come.
