About Our Club

The Wharton Rotary Club was established in 1946. Our club meets every Wednesday at 12:00 noon in the O’Quinn Room of the Wharton Civic Center located at 1924 N. Fulton St., Wharton, TX 77488 (please click here for directions). About Rotary International

Rotary is the world’s premier international humanitarian service organization. We are a diverse global network of community, busi

ness, and professional leaders who address relevant social causes to change lives and build goodwill and peace at home and abroad. The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. The Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation who share its vision of a better world. Polio Eradication

One of the international missions of Rotary is to eradicate polio, an effort started in 1988 with the World Health Organization, when 1,000 children were infected every day in 125 countries, to less than 1,400 cases reported last year, in 4 countries. But if we don’t eradicate the disease now, the risk of crippling and deadly polio outbreaks will continue to threaten the world’s children. Learn about the challenges to polio eradication and the current strategies that Rotary and its polio eradication partners are using. You can help Rotary get the job done by contributing to Rotary’s PolioPlus program or volunteering and creating awareness of polio.

On May 6th, Wharton ISD Superintendent Mr. O delivered an outstanding program, joined by Ms. Fink and Ms. Williams from FCCLA ,they did a phenomenal job! We also enjoyed Miss Marilyn Sebesta’s famous, beautifully decorated cookies ,made with love and absolutely delicious. Plus, we received a great update on WISD. Strong leadership, strong community!

On yesterday, our Community Kindness initiative surprised Ms. Barbara Hearne at Dollar Tree. If you’ve ever walked into that store, then you already know how kind and awesome Ms. Barbara is. She was pleasantly surprised, and it was an honor to celebrate her. We celebrate you, ma’am!

Thank you once again to H-E-B. Without you, this vision would not be complete. We also want to recognize the Wharton Police Department and OakBend for their support on yesterday as well. When we come together with one heart and one purpose, we can make a real difference. Rotary is more than service; it is people uniting for good, showing kindness, building hope, and strengthening the community we love.
