About Our Club

The Wharton Rotary Club was established in 1946. Our club meets every Wednesday at 12:00 noon in the O’Quinn Room of the Wharton Civic Center located at 1924 N. Fulton St., Wharton, TX 77488 (please click here for directions). About Rotary International

Rotary is the world’s premier international humanitarian service organization. We are a diverse global network of community, busi

ness, and professional leaders who address relevant social causes to change lives and build goodwill and peace at home and abroad. The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. The Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation who share its vision of a better world. Polio Eradication

One of the international missions of Rotary is to eradicate polio, an effort started in 1988 with the World Health Organization, when 1,000 children were infected every day in 125 countries, to less than 1,400 cases reported last year, in 4 countries. But if we don’t eradicate the disease now, the risk of crippling and deadly polio outbreaks will continue to threaten the world’s children. Learn about the challenges to polio eradication and the current strategies that Rotary and its polio eradication partners are using. You can help Rotary get the job done by contributing to Rotary’s PolioPlus program or volunteering and creating awareness of polio.

We are excited to welcome Past District Governor Suzi Howe as our guest speaker at today's Rotary Club of Wharton meeting. Suzi is a member of the Space Center Rotary Club and has served Rotary International in some of its highest leadership roles, including Rotary International Director (2020-2022) and Regional Rotary Foundation Coordinator for Zones 21B and parts of 27. It is a tremendous honor to have a leader of Suzi's caliber join us. Her passion for service, leadership, and The Rotary Foundation has inspired Rotarians across the world, and we look forward to hearing her insights and experiences.

Rotarians always know how to have a good time, and last night’s Installation Banquet was no exception! 💙💛

From great food and fellowship to awards and the installation of new officers, it was a wonderful evening and an exciting start to the 2026–2027 Rotary year.

The Simply Divine Event Center provided a beautiful setting, and the delicious Kings & Queens menu was truly fit for royalty. Outgoing President Adraylle Watson officially passed the gavel to incoming President Clifford Jackson, with Mindi Snyder leading the installation ceremony.

Congratulations to our award recipients:
⭐ Landon McClain – Paul Harris Fellow +1 and Perfect Attendance
⭐ Linda King – Paul Harris Fellow +3
⭐ Jeanie Gunter – Rotarian of the Year

Here’s to another year of friendship, service, and making a difference in our community. Service Above Self! 💙💛

Today, our Community Kindness Project honored a true hometown hero, Johnny Gonzales. A Vietnam-era veteran, Johnny has dedicated countless years to serving our community through the American Legion, Blue Santa, Fiesta Hispana Americana, the Wharton Beautification Committee, the Mayor’s Committee on Disability, and the City of Wharton Planning Commission.

Joining the surprise were his daughter, Amy Wesley; Mayor Tim Barker; the Wharton Police Department; OakBend Hospital; fellow Navy veteran Paul Shannon; and family members and friends.

A special thank you to H-E-B for helping make this recognition possible. Thank you, Johnny, for your service, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the Wharton community. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
