Springtime House in Romania-USA
Springtime House in Romania-USA, Inc (SH USA) is a Non-Profit 501(c)3 Charity CoFounded in 2010 by Rick and Sandy Scott to support fatherless and at-risk children in Romania. At this time, orphans may be adopted only by Romanians, whether living in or outside Romania. SH USA is a member of ARFO “Romania Without Orphans” (ARFO: Asociatia Alianta Romania Fara Orfani) and also, Christian Alliance for Orphans (CAFO).
SH USA owns and maintains a registered foster care home where five fatherless siblings have lived since 2003. Four or them have finished trade school, are working and living independently in Romania. SH USA also supports multiple “Homes of Hope” where >80 fatherless or at-risk children live and thrive. These children have been rescued and are now learning to trust and develop basic life skills.
Education is a priority of SH USA, both academic and Christian education. SH USA provides school supplies for hundreds of additional indigent children to attend public schools. Without SH USA providing school supplies, backpacks, these children would not be allowed to attend public schools. If an orphan’s grades are passing by age 15, the State will pay their university tuition! Two of SH USA young adults have graduated, one from law school and one from accounting college; another is a nursing student.SH USA provides housing, laptops and textbooks to orphaned students attending college. The majority of orphans and at-risk children attend special high school / trade school of their choice which prepares them for future employment. Students are successful after graduating, when they are employed and are able to live within their budget independently.
Human trafficking is rampant in Eastern Europe, as 18-year old teen girls and boys who graduate from orphanages are targets for this heinous crime, which is heartbreaking; therefore, transitioning from childhood to independence safely, is a major focus of SH USA.
