We wanted to wait until after Memorial Day to share some exciting news

A lot of people don’t realize how much time, effort, and care goes into maintaining the Vietnam Memorial. Between mowing the grass, trimming hedges, weeding, planting flowers, and general upkeep, it’s truly a bigger job than most people would think. Right now, the majority of that work is handled by just three people, two of them over the age of 70, and one raising small children.

That’s why we are incredibly grateful to announce that Frank Sullivan of Skinner Overlook Landscape & Design heard about the work being done and stepped up in a huge way. Frank has offered to help with the mowing, planting, and mulching at absolutely no cost.

His commitment to honoring our Veterans and supporting this memorial speaks volumes about both him and his business. We truly cannot thank him enough for his generosity and willingness to help preserve such an important place in our community.🇺🇲

Please take a minute during your cookouts and time at the beach for the real reason of what today means. Let's pay respect to these 15 Weymouth soldiers who died in Vietnam and the 20 that have passed away due to wounds and Agent Orange.

Thank you to everyone who attended today’s Weymouth Veterans Wreath Laying Ceremony hosted by the Weymouth Veterans Council.

A special thank you to the Mayor Michael Molisse and Stephen Shinney Councilor at Large for joining us as we honored our fallen veterans and remembered the sacrifices made by so many brave men and women.

Today, in conjunction with the Weymouth Police Marine Unit, a wreath was laid at sea just off Wessagussett Beach in tribute to our Veterans and their families during this Memorial Day observance. The ceremony also included a gun salute by the George R. Bean American Legion Post 79 Color Guard.

May we always remember and honor those who gave everything for our country.

As next week approaches, please know the difference. Thank you Taps for Veterans for making the image. Great local page that believes that all veterans deserve a live Taps at the time of rest.

If you’re able to, please help give this hero a proper burial. 🇺🇸

Update May 15, 2026:

Thank you all again for your continued efforts to reach out to volunteer your time at the funeral of John Bernard Arnold III. At this moment, all volunteer offerings are no longer needed. We have had an incredible response to this matter and are now working on ensuring the safety of the attendees, and the area in which the service is taking place.

All those wishing to attend the service, please check this post prior to the event, for any instruction/information released. We want this ceremony to be as special as the Veteran we are honoring.

Again, volunteers are no longer needed. But, your attendance at the church is welcomed.

Thank you.

**Edit: The response to this has been more than amazing. Planning has been underway since early this morning when I first was notified of the situation. At this time, your attendance will be the best way to help send this Veteran off to his final resting place. Once again, thank you to all that have reached out offering to be pallbearers, tagging different people and groups. This is exactly how to our community (not just the Veterans) should come together. This is more than I could’ve ever imagined when I received the first message asking for help.

I look forward to seeing everyone there on Monday. It’s shaping up to be a fitting send off**

Today was our annual spring cleanup at the Weymouth Vietnam Memorial, and it was a tough one. This winter hit the memorial hard, with multiple downed branches and a lot of cleanup needed.

Thanks to the incredible effort from our community and the hardworking crew at the DPW, 47 bags of yard waste were cleared and the grounds brought back to the level of respect it deserves.

This is what community looks like. Thank you to everyone who showed up and made a real difference today. 🇺🇸

Thank you to Lowes, who donated all the flowers that were planted today. They always go above and beyond for their Veterans!

Don't forget this Saturday! Many hands make light work!

Don't forget this Saturday! Many hands make light work!

📢 We need your help 👷‍♂️

Join us April 25th from 9AM–12PM for the Weymouth Vietnam Memorial Spring Clean Up. This winter did some damage, tree limbs down, trash everywhere, and yes… more shopping carts.

If you can, bring a rake or tools and let’s get it back to where it should be.

Hope to see you there.🇺🇲
