bee the change

bee the change Bee the Change creates habitat in solar fields and other spaces for native pollinators to flourish.

Habitat loss from human encroachment is one of the principal reasons our pollinators are disappearing. We believe there is an opportunity in the unused space in solar fields. Non-native honey bees are important pollinators, but it is our native pollinators- those butterflies, hummingbirds, moths, bees and other insects moving pollen from plant to plant- that provide a vital and sustainable reproductive pathway for many of the fruits, vegetables, nuts, and plants we consume.

FInal seeding today!

w/ bee the change!!!

GWD is buzzzzzzzing with excitement about our new pollinator bee garden!
Do you remember when DJ's Tree Service came in and whittled down those VERY tall widow makers? Whew, sooooo glad they did! Yet it left us with a LOT of front lawn that we knew we had to do something super smart with.

Recently, Mike and his team prepped our front lawn, tilled, fertilized, and planted so it will be ready with a head start in the Spring, with all the flowers our pretty pollinators need!

"We are hoping to plant pollinator habitat in every town in Vermont, working with local schools, businesses, municipalities and community members. We will also install educational signage and bring curriculum to the classrooms to tell the story of pollinators and their importance in every town that wishes." -courtesy of https://beethechange.earth/

Check out their map of all the pollinator gardens ALL over this bee-utiful state! GWD is excited to bee a small, yet smart part of change!
