Remembering Daniel, Fabian, Lillian, and Daniela Gonzalez
Today, and around this hour, marks one year since we tragically lost our beloved loved ones — Daniel, Fabian, Lillian, and Daniela Gonzalez.
A year has passed, and it’s been a difficult journey for our family. Their absence has created a deep void in our hearts, in our family gatherings, and in every moment that would have been brighter with them by our side.
On this challenging day, we want to express our deepest gratitude to the first responders, community members, friends, and family who have stood with us through this unimaginable pain. Your unwavering support has been a light in the darkness. A special thank you to Officer Justin Malueg, who, beyond being one of the first responders at the scene last year, has dedicated himself to making our community’s roads safer for everyone.
We are also profoundly grateful to those who took the time to provide impact statements. The power of community unity was felt deeply, and the support shown through these statements was an incredible testament to how we all stand together in the face of tragedy. Your words have been a source of strength and healing for us.
While the sentencing on November 22nd brought us a sense of closure, it also reinforces the urgent need for stricter laws against drunk driving, so that no other family will endure the pain we have experienced. We pray that all families across the state are able to enjoy safe and peaceful holidays, free from the heartbreak of such tragedies.
As we remember our own loss, our thoughts and prayers are also with the victims and families affected by the tragic shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison today. Our hearts are with them during this unimaginable time.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported us this past year. Your love, kindness, and presence have been a great source of comfort. As we honor the memories of Daniel, Fabian, Lillian, and Daniela, we carry you all with us in our hearts.
With love and gratitude,
The Schilling-Gonzalez & Gonzalez Family
