Navigating breastfeeding support can feel like learning a new language! Ever wondered about the difference between an IBCLC, a CLC, and an LC? You're not alone! An IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) is the highest-level credential, requiring extensive clinical hours, specific health education, and passing a rigorous international exam. Think of them as the gold standard for complex lactation issues. CLCs (Certified Lactation Counselors) provide skilled counseling and management for common breastfeeding challenges. They offer valuable, accessible support. An LC (Lactation Consultant) is a broader term, often used generally or for those with different certifications, sometimes without the same standardized training as IBCLCs or CLCs.
