💚 A little gratitude goes a long way!

Recently, a neighbor stopped one of our WVIA volunteers to say thank you for tending to the small garden on Nott x Wolcott. She'd been wondering who cared for it, and was so glad it was looked after. Moments like that are why we do what we do!

Our volunteers give their time and water in all kinds of weather to help keep Wethersfield beautiful. If you see one out working, please say thank you because it means more than you know! And if you'd like to join them, we'd love to have you. Reach out anytime to get involved at [email protected] or visit our website!

A note from the Wethersfield Village Improvement Association (WVIA)

The WVIA in partnership with WBT has been caring and maintaining the concrete plant containers throughout all of Wethersfield, including those on Main Street in Old Wethersfield. We are a 100% volunteer organization with no additional funding from the town or state. Our volunteers give their personal time each week to water, w**d, and maintain every container because they take genuine pride in this community.

We rely on fees from our sponsors and donations to buy the plants in order to keep the town looking great in front of businesses and in civic areas like the Broad Street Green, etc.

Any concrete container that has moved from Main Street did so because a business owner or landlord had chosen not to renew their annual sponsorship. When that happens, the container is relocated to another interested sponsor in town. Any business or landlord wishing to have a container at their location, including Main Street, is welcome to contact us. The annual fee is $150 for the first container and $100 for any additional or a returning sponsor. It is tax deductible, and your plants will be tended weekly by a local volunteer.

We welcome any and all new businesses!

On days like today, we are so grateful for our trees. During heat waves, the shade from a single tree can make a real difference — cooling the air around us naturally and giving us a place to breathe. Stay cool out there, neighbors!
