CTYFL Official page for the CT Youth Football League The CTYFL is not affiliated with any National football or cheerleading organization.

The CTYFL is simply a group of medium/small sized Towns that, due to population constraints, cannot form in-town leagues for their kids. By forming the CTYFL we allow our children to participate in the great sports of football and cheerleading. We encourage all Towns in the CTYFL to figure out a way to take all the children that want to play and discourage the turning away or cutting of players. W

e have long thought that we can serve the children of CT best by tailoring our rules based on the children we have here. Many National organizations tailor their rules to fit all he children throughout the nation in order to have National Championships. While National Competitions are ok, it simply requires that all participating Towns play under the same National Rules in order that a few Towns can fairly compete for titles. The CTYFL strictly controls Town boundaries from which an organization can draw participants. By regulating these "draw areas" the CTYFL has found that we have fostered the growth of strong programs with a great percentage of children participating. Coaches can not start pulling in children from other Towns to stack a team or form a "travel team" at the expense of the children in the Town they serve. Each Town in the CTYFL is run independently and has it's own board and bylaws, so issues at the Town level are handled by them. CTYFL football and cheerleading rules are based on the NFHS rule book with a few variations in order to fit our age groups. History of the Connecticut Youth Football League

Founded in 1972 as the Skeneski League. The CTYFL began to facilitate the coordination of allowing town youth football programs to be able to play outside their in-town programs. Through the years the name was changed to the Eastern CT Football Conference ECFC and in 2006 the name was changed to the Connecticut Youth Football League CTYFL as the organization grew.

Congratulations to all our team participants at today’s championship games. Each team fought hard and should be proud of their commitment and the earning their placement, competing in the championship game. Second session complete. Congratulations to New Hartford B and Cromwell B for first place and also South windsor and Durham c squads for first place as well. We are so proud of all the towns. Everyone brought it this year. Awesome job to all the young ladies that competed today. The CTYFL is proud of you!

On behalf of the CTYFL executive board members, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the young athlete in this photo. B-team, East Hartford Hornet, JJ Haughton came onto the field during yesterday’s championship game and showed his teammates, opponents, coaches, spectators and even our Executive board what a true athlete and exceptional sportsmanship looks like. JJ quickly stood out as much more than just a well rounded athlete. Play after play, he continued to display attributes of a true leader as he made every effort to both see and acknowledge the other athletes regardless of the jersey. He continuously reached out a hand to help them up and pat them on the back for their efforts. JJ, if your team or family or you are reading this, continue to be this amazing athlete, becuase you are the prime example of what others should strive to be. Hard working, dedicated, compassionate and most of all, your sportsmanship which is unparalleled.

Congratulations to all our 2022 CTYFL championship winners! Today’s games were, without question, as exhilarating as any football fan could have hoped for. Despite the technical difficulties with streaming, these players spared no expense in making these games some of the best we have seen this season. Make sure to congratulate these young athletes when you see them. C team Berlin (Red), B team East Hartford, and A team Enfield. Great Job athletes! We can’t wait to see you all again next season.
