Please help! We currently have seven hard to adopt dogs in boarding. 1. Moby, 2. Snuggles, 3. Bart, 4. Bodhi, 5. Coquito, 6. Peaches and 7. Ottis. While well cared for, having so many for so long is of course very expensive and unsustainable for any rescue group. Thus, in addition to asking for fosters regularly and having adoption events, we volunteers keep trying to put together fun fundraisers to keep this mission going. Meet Trixie, a 1-year-old, 18 lb mixed-breed girl with a big personality and an even bigger need for patience, understanding, and love.

Trixie is a sensitive little lady who likes to do things on her own terms. She needs time to warm up, prefers not to do her own thing and may become defensive when she feels scared or pressured. Her perfect person will be calm, confident, dog-savvy, and willing to let trust build naturally.

Once comfortable, Trixie’s quirky personality really shines. She loves car rides, excitedly awaits mealtime and bedtime at 8:30pm when foster will say “who’s ready for bed!” She’s also been known to lounge across the top of the couch like a cozy cat where she will spend her days relaxing most of the time.

Trixie would likely do best as the only dog in the home, where she can enjoy a peaceful routine and plenty of one-on-one attention. She will also need an adopter who understands that vet visits, nail trims, harnessing, and other handling may require assistance or medication.

âThis gal also has a kidney condition that will need continued monitoring. She is on a special diet, needs access to fresh water at all times, and will need blood and/or urine testing a few times a year to keep an eye on her kidney health.

Trixie isn’t looking for someone to change who she is—she’s looking for someone who will understand her, respect her boundaries, and celebrate every little step forward.

For the right person, this quirky little girl is so worth earning the trust of.

Ready for some hot Cocoa?

Cocoa may not know exactly where he came from, but he knows where he wants to go: straight into the heart of a loving family.

Cocoa is a handsome brown mixed-breed boy, about 5–6 years old and just 11 pounds. His background is a mystery. He was found in a remote wooded area, possibly abandoned and possibly from a hoarding situation. Whatever happened in his past, Cocoa is now learning what it means to be safe, loved, and part of a family.

He’s still figuring out this whole house-dog thing, but he’s making wonderful progress. Cocoa is on his way to being housebroken and crate-trained, and he’s discovering that living in a home can be pretty wonderful.

Cocoa is good with other dogs and kids, and he is grateful for any friendly hand that reaches out to him. He has not yet been tested with cats.

Cocoa may have a sad history, but he hasn’t let his past shade his future. He is eager to become someone’s beloved companion, and this little guy has an awful lot of love to give in return.

Cocoa has recently arrived in New Jersey and is ready to start the next chapter of his life — hopefully as someone’s cherished best friend.
