We wanted to take a moment to thank all of the coaches/Staff that are working with your kids in all the extracurricular activities at our school. Before we go on we also want to thank the board for the generous stipends. It is not lost that we tend to pay our coaches well in comparison to other schools. Westville has shown a commitment to all types of extracurricular activities that support the interests of our students.

That said even with the generous stipends when you calculate the hours worked on average our coaches make at or below minimum wage. We bring this up because they are not doing it for the money. The people who choose to coach do it because they care about your students. They are choosing to spend less time with their family to spend it with your family. They do it because they want to see the best for each student here and for a love of the sport/activity they coach.

So on behalf of the WEA we want to sincerely thank the coaches for your hard work and always trying your best to do what is right for all students at Westville.

We are so happy to have our new contract in place. We are proud to say this new agreement truly puts our students first and will help us attract and retain talented educators. A few highlights follow; we were able to maintain our individual health insurance plans along with tremendously increasing the contribution for family insurance. Plan time and teacher assignments are now more protected than ever, allowing certified staff more time to plan and work to support students.
We also secured much needed salary increases and enhanced retirement benefits . The language of the contract has been agreed upon by the WEA and the Board of Education and the details for the final copy will be completed very soon.
We are so grateful to our community members, parents and students who stood by us and supported us through this entire process. A very heartfelt thank you to you all!

The WEA Negotiations Team is excited to announce that WEA membership unanimously voted to approve a Tentative Agreement presented at a meeting of the membership on Monday, February 12th, by a margin of 72-0. After well over a year of negotiating, it’s clear that WEA members are excited about the prospect of a Contract that recognizes their value, maintains important benefits, and best allows the District to continue to recruit and retain the excellent staff that Westville students deserve. Westville, Illinois

The Westville CUSD #2 Board of Education will vote on ratifying the proposed Tentative Agreement next week. We expect to make a broader statement upon the Board of Education’s ratification. Upon such vote, the terms of this Agreement will become effective, and staff can tentatively expect to see retroactive benefits paid out on their first March paycheck.

Thank you again for your constant support, passion, and dedication. This Agreement would not have been possible without each and every single WEA member.

In solidarity,

The WEA Negotiations Team

THANK YOU.

The bargaining team is incredibly excited to announce the finalization of a Tentative Agreement with the Board of Education. We will present full terms to members and seek a ratification vote of WEA members on Monday, February 12th at 3:30pm (location TBA).

The bargaining team believes this Agreement, which is the result of over a full year of tough negotiating, represents huge strides towards helping Westville recruit and retain the best teachers and staff, while also maintaining and increasing the types of important benefits we know our members value. While we will present full details at the ratification meeting, we are excited to announce that this Contract, if ratified, would represent the largest increase in benefits ever settled in Westville.

No doubt, achieving this Tentative Agreement is testament to the support of WEA members and the Westville community – a statement that our working conditions are our students’ learning conditions, and that we will not settle for second class.

Once again, thank you for your continued support.

In solidarity,
The WEA Bargaining Team WWestville, Illinois
