VCC Foundation The Vermilion County Conservation Foundation was organized in 1984 as a 501(C)(3) non-profit corporation.

It exists to support the efforts of the Vermilion County Conservation District. MISSION

This Sunday, March 15 is Maple Syrup Fest! Come out to Forest Glen Preserve anytime between 10am - 2pm to learn the process of maple sap to maple syrup with:
🍁Tree-tapping demonstrations
🍁Sugar Bush + Evaporator tours
🍁Pioneer Homestead Cabin tours
🍁Guided Hikes leaving from the Gannett Education Center every 30 minutes from 10am - 1pm; **Weather/Wind Permitting**
🍁The Gannett Education Center's nature room will be open with a kid's activity
🍁French Toast and Sausage Basket available for $6 each at the Gannett Education Center (Carryout available!)
🍁The Forest Glen Maple Syrup will be available for $15/pint or $30/quart with Vermilion County Conservation District Foundation Board Members

The time is now to join the Vermilion County Conservation Foundation for 2026. You will enjoy being a part of the Conservation District family knowing that your membership helps: Kennekuk, Forest Glen, Lake Vermilion, Heron, and the Kickapoo Rail Trail.
As a member, you can use your membership card for a discount on building rentals, and other services the VCCD offers!
Don't forget to book your building or shelter on Monday, January 5th!

The VCCD is excited to announce our new logo created by WhiteSmith Marketing Group, Inc. from Vermilion County.

Representing recreation, education, and conservation opportunities across our sun-filled prairie skies, flowing rivers, and forest diversity, this logo was selected from over 60 submissions. Thank you to everyone that submitted designs earlier this year!

The Bunker Hill Holiday Open House will be Sunday, December 7, from 2 - 8pm. Enjoy light refreshments, kid's crafts, holiday radio shows, and more at the Neff Grocery Store, Atwood Home, and Print Shop located in Kennekuk County Park.

The BHHA Holiday Lights will turn on at dusk until 8pm. The lights will continue nightly December 7 - 31, dusk to 8pm.

The FREE candle dipping activity is available at Pioneer Craft Day on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 10am - 3pm.

Visitors to Sunday's Pioneer Craft Day will get to create a candle, taste fry bread, help make fresh apple cider, and play traditional pioneer games in addition to visiting the Revolutionary War Encampment at Forest Glen Preserve.

It’s migration time for the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds. They are beginning to head south for the winter. We will see an increased number of them foraging and at feeders this month. Keep the sugar water in your feeders fresh and clean them regularly, skip the red dye. Feeders are recommended to come down mid-to-late October.
