🌲🚶‍♂️ Celebrate National Trails Day with a Guided Hike! 🥾✨

Join us THIS Saturday, June 6th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM for a family-friendly adventure up Coot Hill & Big Hollow in Moriah! Experience the best views in the Champlain Valley as we hike along a scenic road to an old cemetery and then ascend to a breathtaking overlook. Keep an eye out for hawks and turkey vultures soaring in the glacial canyon of Big Hollow!

But that’s not all! After our main hike, we’ll still have time for an adventure up Belfrey Mountain, finishing off with stunning views from the firetower. 🏞️

Both hikes are part of the Moriah Chamber of Commerce Moriah Patch Challenge, so you can conquer half the challenge in just one day! Plus, Coot Hill and Big Hollow are key stops on the Lake Champlain Revolutionary Quest hosted by Lake Champlain Region, adding an interactive twist to our day as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Revolutionary War this year.

This is the perfect opportunity for families and adventurers to create lasting memories together! 🎉🌄

🌱 Join Us for a Delightful Seedling Planting Event with the Adirondack Garden Club! 🌱

We warmly invite you to participate in a unique seedling planting workshop on Friday, May 29th, 2026, at the Whallonsburg Grange. Guided by the dedicated members of the Adirondack Garden Club, we will work together to combat invasive species while welcoming native plants in the stunning Essex Quarry Nature Preserve, graciously managed by Champlain Area Trails.

🌼 Spring Wildflower Walk Alert! 🌼

Join us this Saturday, May 16th, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM for a delightful morning exploring Whipple Mountain at Twin Valleys in Lewis!

This family-friendly guided walk is perfect for all ages and features a scenic 2-mile loop with 385 feet of elevation gain. Enjoy stunning views and vibrant wildflowers along the way!

Tomorrow is the big day – it’s the Grand Hike on Saturday, May 9th! 🌲🥾

As we prepare for a fun-filled adventure, here are some important details to keep in mind:

🚶‍♀️ Online registration is now closed, but no worries—day-of registration will be available starting at 9 AM! Just a heads up, t-shirts aren't guaranteed, and the price will increase to $55.

🚐 Please park at the Essex County Fairgrounds in Westport. Buses will start shuttling participants to the Whallonsburg Grange for registration and check-in at 9:00 AM.

📧 If you’ve already registered, check your inbox! We sent an email with all the details to help you make the most of your day. This info is also handy for anyone registering tomorrow in person. It's available using the link below.

🌤️ And the weather? It’s looking fantastic with a high of 57 degrees and some morning sunshine—perfect for a day outdoors!

We can’t wait to see everyone for an unforgettable hiking experience, celebrating the amazing town-to-town trails of Champlain Area Trails.

If you haven't already signed up, there's still time—online registration ends Friday at 9 AM! You can sign up at https://www.champlainareatrails.com/programs-and-events/grandhike.

After that, we’ll have day-of registration, but keep in mind that t-shirts are not guaranteed, and the price will increase to $55. Please park at the Essex County Fairgrounds in Westport and board a bus that will take you to check-in and registration at the Whallonsburg Grange starting at 8:30 am.
