Established in 1881, AAUW’s mission is Equity for Women and Girls through
Advocacy, Education, Philanthropy and Research. As one of the 1,000 branches
all across the United States, the Weston Branch follows this mission. Weston Branch was started in 2007 and does several projects in the community
and for the community. Every March, it celebrates International Women’s Day and honors selected wom
en
with Community Service Star Awards and women groups with Service of Distinction
plaques for their services to the community. Once a year, it conducts a Young Women’s Leadership Conference for high school
girls. Every November, it participates in Weston’s Harvest Drive to collect and organize
food and clothing for needy families. This takes place the week before Thanksgiving. This year, we are planning “Get Up and Go” workshops for women career transition. Every year, we try to raise money for the branch and AAUW. Every December, it celebrates the holiday season with a Holiday Luncheon. This year, it collaborates with Mujeres Latinas IML on a project to prevent school
dropout. We organize luncheon meetings four times a year for our membership meetings. Anyone with a two-year college degree or above is eligible to become a member;
we encourage others can become “Friends” of the branch. Visit our national website www.aauw.org and
