International Day to End Violence Against S*x Workers was created in 2003 after a vigil held by s*x workers and advocates to remember victims of the Green River Killer, who murdered at least 49 women, many of whom were s*x workers.
International data shows that s*x workers experience disproportionate rates of violence, harassment, and homicide, driven by criminalization, stigma, and state violence.
In Florida, s*x workers can be arrested just for surviving, pushed into isolation, and forced to choose between reporting violence or protecting themselves from arrest, outing, or retaliation.
Real safety comes from listening to s*x workers, not carceral “rescue” narratives that shame and punish the very people they claim to help.
Tell Florida legislators to stop criminalizing consensual adult s*x work and invest in non-judgmental, non-carceral care.
