Hello Oakwood Homeowners
Sharing some information from the Oakwood Board meeting on 9/1.
Several homeowners attended to discuss the proposed construction expansion at Great Lakes
Plumbing, which backs up to several homes.
• The current proposal would place a truck bay and employee access point only four feet from residential property lines. While Great Lakes has stated that operations would be limited to business hours and that noise impacts would be minimal, many nearby residents have experienced situations that raise serious concerns about those assurances.
• Residents whose homes border the facility have repeatedly experienced loud industrial activity occurring during early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overnight hours. Families have endured sleep disruptions, excessive lighting, and ongoing concerns about privacy and property maintenance.
• The Westmont Planning & Zoning Committee voted No on the proposal at the August meeting.
There will be a final vote on it by the Village Board of Trustees this week on whether the project will move forward.
Residents who are not in favor of this expansion have started a petition seeking support. Whether or not you choose to sign is 100% up to you. The intent is simply to pass along information at the request of the affected homeowners.
