Our illustrious commander is shaving his head for charity on March 10th! This is his 10th year participating in St Baldricks Shave for the Cure to help fund research to find cures for childhood cancers.

I'm shaving my head to raise money for childhood cancer research and stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer! Make a donation to support my fundraising efforts!

FLAGS IN -FLAGS OUT The VFW and interested groups/individuals will be putting flags on the graves of all the Veterans at Clarendon Hills Cemetery.
FLAGS IN on Friday May 26th starting at 5:00pm. The post will provide the flags, volunteers are asked to bring a screwdriver to make a pilot hole to ease the emplacement of the flags.
FLAGS OUT is on Monday May 29th at 3:00pm. Volunteers are asked to bring a bucket and scrub pad to help clean the flags before they stored away.
VFW post officers will be on site to if you need verification of participation for volunteers hours.

Join us at Clarendon Hills Cemetery for our annual Memorial Day Ceremony at 9:00am on Monday May 29th. We will be joined by the Downers Grove Choral Society as we celebrate our nation’s Veterans who have passed and are interned within. We look forward to seeing you there. We will also conduct our regale ceremony at 11:00am at Darien Community Park.

We are excited to announce that our annual Memorial Day ceremony will go as planned at the Peace Monument in Darien Community Park on Monday May 29th at 11:00am. We welcome you to join us as we celebrate our nation’s fallen heroes and remember their sacrifices.

While there is construction going on as the park is renovated, attendees will be able to gather near the monument as has been our tradition. There may be some parking challenges though as equipment and work occupy the parking areas in and adjacent to the park. Street parking is available along 71st and 72nd streets.

Our thanks to the City of Darien (truly a nice place to live!) and the Darien Park District for ensuring we are able to make this event happen.

It is with a heavy heart that I share that Comrade Frank Kalisik passed away on Wednesday at the age of 93. Comrade Kalisik was a WWII Veteran and part of the the Army of the Occupation of Japan.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2023 from 9:00 am until time of prayers at 10:45 am at Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S. Cass Ave., Darien to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Mass 11:30 am. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Mercy Home for Boys & Girls, 1140 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60607 are appreciated.

My good friend Paula Grazer does a gift giving campaign every year for the Manteno Veterans Home. And we invite her to address the post and tell about the good she does for Veterans. This year Comrade Brodzinski made a motion to double the donation we made last year! As you can tell Paula was overjoyed. The post is proud to donate to such a worthy cause and we salute you Paula.
