Our February Member of the Month is Trinity Smith. Trinity is in 8th grade and this is her third year of FFA. Her favorite CDE was Tool ID.

Wrapping up our Food Science unit with a hands-on lab! 🥒

My year-long agriculture students finished the unit by making refrigerator pickles. This activity allowed them to see the science behind food preservation and study the chemical reactions that occur during the pickling process. By combining vinegar, salt, and spices, students were able to observe how acidity and osmosis work together to preserve food and create that classic pickle flavor.

Agriculture classes are about more than just farming—they’re about understanding the science behind the food we eat every day. Proud of these students for diving into the chemistry of food! 🌱
