District Twelve Educators' Association

District Twelve Educators' Association Welcome to the District Twelve Educators' Association. Look here to see what's happening in DTEA. We believe that every student deserves a quality teacher.

Who We Are:

We are the teachers' association in the Adams 12 Five Star School District, an affiliate of the Colorado and Nation Education Associations. We are the exclusive representative of all teachers in the district, and have about 1,750 members. We believe in working collaboratively to ensure our students are career and workforce ready when they graduate from our district's high schools, pre

pared with 21st century skills for a successful transition into the global economy and society. We believe we must all share the responsibility for our students' success. Teachers and support staff must teach and motivate every student. parents and families should instill values of respect, responsibility, and love for learning. Students should come to school ready to learn. Elected officials should give our schools the resources they need to provide a state-of-the-art education for every student. About the Adams 12 Five Star School District:
Adams 12 is a public school district located in the suburban area immediately north of Denver, Colorado. Adams 12 serves nearly 43,000 students in the five communities of Broomfield, Federal Heights, Northglenn, Thornton, Westminster, and unincorporated Adams County. Our Core Values:
·Equal Opportunity ~ We believe public education is the gateway to opportunity. All students have the human and civil right to a quality public education that develops their potential, independence, and character.

·A Just Society ~ We believe public education is vital to building respect for the worth, dignity, and equality of every individual in our diverse society.

·Democracy ~We believe public education is the cornerstone of our republic. Public education provides individuals with the skills to be involved, informed and engaged in our representative democracy.

·Professionalism ~ We believe that the expertise and judgment of education professionals are critical to student success. We maintain the highest professional standards, and we expect the status, compensation, and respect due all professionals.

·Partnership ~ We believe partnerships with parents, families, communities, and other stakeholders are essential to quality public education and student success.

·Collective Action ~ We believe individuals are strengthened when they work together for the common good. As education professionals, we improve both our professional practice and the quality of public education when we unite and advocate collectively.

When we fight…

After 17 days on strike, SEA members have reached a tentative agreement.

This was not accomplished alone. It happened because Sheridan educators stayed united, and because families, students, community members, and union siblings stood with us every step of the way.

SEA members will receive more information about the tentative agreement via email.

Educators across Colorado are fighting to cut the ropes that have held our public schools back for far too long.

SB26-135 has been introduced in the Senate and assigned to committee, a major step in our fight to free the funding Colorado students and educators deserve.

This is what collective power looks like: organizing, speaking out, and demanding that our lawmakers invest in our neighborhood public schools.

Next up: Senate committee review on Thursday.

DTEA stands in solidarity with Sheridan EA. Strong collective bargaining agreements make schools better for students and the many workers who serve them.
Despite educators’ continued willingness to bargain, the district has not returned to the table to restore the contract. Sheridan educators have been working without a negotiated contract since August.
This moment is a reminder of why unions matter. Collective bargaining protects not just pay and benefits, but the learning and working conditions that make great public schools possible. We stand with Sheridan educators as they advocate for a fair contract and the respect they deserve.

DTEA recognizes and stands in solidarity with educators and community members who took action today out of deep concern for the safety and dignity of students and families in our communities.

Whether you participated in today’s national protest, organized workplace actions, or contacted elected officials, you took a strong step in sending a clear collective message:

• ALL children deserve to feel safe and supported in our public schools.
• We will continue to focus our efforts to ensure protection in schools from ICE, locally and nationally.
• We must continue to expand and increase the visibility of resources for all families and communities.
• As educators, our most fundamental duty is to keep students safe in school while fostering learning and growth every day.
• Public education was envisioned as a cornerstone of a free and democratic society. We must ensure our schools continue to uphold this purpose while continuously striving to meet the needs of the communities they serve.

We are stronger when we stand together.
