Summer Place was created in memory of Michael George, and we’re so proud that 100% of its profits support our mission at Awakening Angels — funding programs for individuals with Down syndrome, autism, and developmental disabilities.

The Michael T. George Family Great Room at the Angie Fowler Adolescent & Young Adult Cancer Institute isn’t just a space — it’s a symbol of hope, comfort, and connection.

Designed to uplift young cancer patients and their families, this room offers a warm, modern environment where people can gather, share meals, and find community in the midst of treatment.

We’re honored to support this powerful mission alongside our partners at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s. 💫

Partner Spotlight: Case Western Reserve University🧠✨

We’re proud to team up with Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, the largest medical research institution in Ohio, for a groundbreaking study that could change lives around the world. 🌍

With funding from Awakening Angels, researchers at CWRU are studying whether the Alzheimer’s drug Memantine can help improve cognitive function in adults with Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities.

Why it matters?
By age 40, every individual with Down syndrome develops brain changes associated with Alzheimer’s. This research could be a game-changer — and it’s already making waves internationally. 📰

Introducing one of our proud partners: Welcome House! 💚
In 2006, Tony and Kristine George joined forces with Welcome House to open the Michael T. George Center for Community Living in North Olmsted. Since then, the center has been a safe, supportive home for adults with developmental disabilities — including Down syndrome, autism, and physical challenges.
At Awakening Angels, we’re honored to help fund this incredible work, empowering adults live full, meaningful, and independent lives everyday. 🌟

Six years ago, we lost our Michael T. George — our Mikey. Awakening Angels was created to honor his life and legacy. Today, we proudly support individuals with Down syndrome and autism, helping them thrive, shine, and be seen. Every act of love, every life uplifted through Awakening Angels is a tribute to Mikey’s spirit — joyful, kind, and full of light.
