Wigs for Kids is a non-profit organization that seeks to serve children experiencing medical hair loss by creating Hair Replacement Systems made from real hair. For more than 30 years, Wigs for Kids has been providing Hair Replacement Systems and support for children who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy, radiation therapy, Alopecia, Trichotillomania, burns and other medical issues. ⚾️✂️ After an incredible journey to the World Series with Diamond Kings Baseball teammates, 7-year-old Pryor turned a special milestone into an opportunity to give back. 🏆

By donating his long hair, Pryor is helping provide a child experiencing medical hair loss with a hand-tied wig at no cost, one made to be comfortable enough for everyday life and durable enough to keep up through all nine innings. 💙🩷

Meet Desiree, a 14-year-old who found her smile again.

After being diagnosed with Lupus and experiencing hair loss, Desiree hoped for a little piece of normalcy the confidence to walk into school feeling like herself again.

Because of generous hair donors, financial supporters, and the talented hands of Wigs For Kids stylist Britney Jones with Bennett Beauty Solutions, LLC Desiree received a free hairpiece made just for her.

Her mom shared, “My daughter hasn’t smiled this big in a while.”

So, what happens after you donate your hair? ✂️

"Where does my hair go?"
1️⃣ First, your donation is carefully sorted and processed by length and color. This helps us find the right hair to create a great match for a child waiting for a free hairpiece.

"How much hair does it take?"
2️⃣ It takes 25–30 individual ponytail donations to create one human hairpiece. Those donations are matched to a child’s wig cap size and preferred hair color.

"Okay… but how does it become a hairpiece?"
3️⃣ This is where the craftsmanship begins. Each strand is hand-tied, one by one, to create a natural-looking and durable hairpiece. The process can take months of skilled work to complete.

"And then what?"
4️⃣ The finished hairpiece is gifted completely FREE to the child it was created for, along with hair care products, tools, and resources for their family!

"So my haircut really can make a difference?"
Absolutely. 💚 Your ponytail becomes confidence and support, helping a child feel more like themselves and giving them the freedom to wear their hair when and where they choose.

📈 Look how far we’ve come and how many more children we’re reaching!

On National Nonprofit Day, we’re celebrating the people who make our mission possible.

In 2020, Wigs For Kids helped 395 children receive a free hand-tied wig. By 2025, that number had grown to 1,079 children. That’s more than 2.7 times as many kids finding confidence, comfort, and support through our program.💚

Behind every number is a child.
A smile in the mirror.
A little more confidence walking into school.
A family reminded they’re not alone.
