🚨NEWS FLASH: Heart disease risk isn’t a “body size” thing.

Being overweight or having obesity can increase risk—but people of all body types can still have risk factors like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, insulin resistance, genetics, or silent plaque buildup in the arteries.

👉And here’s what makes it tricky: heart disease is not always accompanied by symptoms. It can develop quietly for years before showing up as anything noticeable.

That’s why it often catches people off guard.😮

And why prevention matters more than assumptions. 🫀

🚨 The first symptom of heart disease can be death.

Not because heart disease strikes without warning—but because the warning signs are often silent.

Take high blood pressure, for example.

Hypertension is often called the “silent killer” because it typically causes no symptoms while quietly damaging the heart, blood vessels, kidneys, and brain. In fact, many people don’t know they have high blood pressure until they’ve experienced a heart attack, stroke, or another serious cardiovascular event.

And hypertension isn’t the only condition that can go unnoticed.

Plaque can build up in the arteries for years. Heart rhythm disorders can remain undetected. Certain inherited cardiovascular conditions may not reveal themselves until a life-threatening event occurs.

That’s why waiting until you “feel something” can be a dangerous strategy.

🫀 Know your blood pressure.
🫀 Understand your cholesterol numbers.
🫀 Learn your family history.
🫀 Keep up with regular checkups.

Because when it comes to heart disease, feeling healthy and being healthy aren’t always the same thing.

The best time to identify a problem is before it becomes an emergency. ❤️

‼️Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both women and men in the United States.

👉But here’s the part that changes everything: Approximately 80% of cardiovascular disease is preventable through lifestyle changes.

👉That means the story isn’t only about risk. It’s about action.

Small, consistent choices matter more than perfection. Things like:
🏃Moving your body regularly.
🍽️Prioritizing whole foods over ultra-processed ones.
😴Getting enough sleep.
🧘Managing stress in ways that actually work for you.
🩺Not ignoring routine checkups and key heart health numbers.

Most people know their cholesterol numbers.

Far fewer know their Lp(a) or ApoB.

And that could mean missing important pieces of the heart health puzzle. ❤️

🧬 Lp(a), or Lipoprotein(a), is a genetically inherited cholesterol particle that can significantly increase the risk of heart attack, stroke, and aortic valve disease. Elevated levels are common, but most people are never tested.

🩸 ApoB measures the number of potentially harmful cholesterol particles circulating in your bloodstream. Many experts consider it a more accurate indicator of cardiovascular risk than LDL cholesterol alone.

The catch? Neither of these tests is typically included in a standard lipid panel. In many cases, you need to specifically ask your healthcare provider about them.

Heart disease often develops silently for years before symptoms appear. Understanding your risk factors today could help protect your heart tomorrow.

Have you ever had either of these tests checked?

Think heart health starts and ends with diet and exercise? 🍽️ 🏃‍♀️

🤯Think again.

Your sleep habits, stress levels, family history, preventive screenings, and exposure to to***co can all have a powerful impact on your cardiovascular health.

👉Heart disease remains the leading cause of death worldwide, and many risk factors develop silently for years before symptoms appear.

Small changes matter. Awareness matters. Prevention matters.

Your heart is working for you every second of every day. Are you doing these 5 things for it?❓

🚨No warning signs. No pain. No obvious indication that anything is wrong.

In some cases, the first symptom is a heart attack.
Or sudden cardiac death.

That’s why prevention cannot start when symptoms appear—because for millions of people, symptoms never come first.

👉Nearly half of adults in the U.S. are living with some form of cardiovascular disease, and many have no idea.

Silent plaque buildup, hidden rhythm disorders, and genetic conditions can progress for years undetected.

🫀Prevention starts before symptoms do.
Before the emergency.
Before the irreversible damage.

Know your numbers. Learn your family history. Advocate for your health. Ask questions now—not later.

Because when it comes to heart disease, what you don’t feel can still hurt you. ❤️

🫀A heart attack doesn’t always feel like crushing chest pain.

Sometimes it feels like unusual fatigue, nausea, shortness of breath, dizziness, jaw pain, indigestion, or discomfort that’s easy to brush off as stress, anxiety, exhaustion, or simply “not feeling well.”

👉In fact, about 1 in 5 heart attacks are considered “silent,” meaning the symptoms are mild, atypical, or go completely unnoticed.

But even when symptoms are missed, the damage to the heart muscle can still be very real. A silent heart attack can leave behind scar tissue, weaken the heart’s ability to pump properly, increase the risk of heart failure, dangerous arrhythmias, and future cardiac events.

‼️That’s why paying attention to your heart health matters, even when you feel okay.

❤️Know your numbers
❤️Stay on top of screenings
❤️Listen to changes in your body
❤️Take preventive steps early

‼️Not all heart disease shows up loudly.

It can exist in adults who feel healthy, in people with no family history, and in those with normal day-to-day symptoms.

High blood pressure is often silent, and heart attacks can sometimes present in unexpected ways, but by spreading more awareness together, we can save lives.
