Check out this year’s Gala Honoree, 89-year-old Marine Sgt. Evelyn Kandel, in this lovely Newsday article! We thank you for this beautiful write up.

If you’ve heard of Honor Flight or the Listen to the Wind Gala, but want to learn more, it’s a great read! The cause is so noble, especially in her words. After all, she is a Nassau County Poet Laureate - so it’s no surprise that her words can easily inspire. Honor Flight provides fully expense paid trips for Veterans to their memorials for the proper “Welcome Home” they deserve, but many (especially Vietnam) never received.

Honor Flight Long Island’s “Listen to the Wind” Gala - Only one week left to buy your tickets!

We are counting down to what will surely be the event of the summer at the idyllic Sagaponack Farm Distillery - this Saturday, July 16th from 5-10pm.

Each ticket purchased goes directly to our mission of sending Veterans to see their memorials in Washington, D.C. at absolutely no cost to them; a life changing and affirming experience for many of these brave men and women.

The evening boasts unlimited tasting room access of farm-to-table spirits mixed with the best, Fever-Tree mixers. Enjoy dinner and dancing with live Motown music from That Motown Band and a special performance of the poem “Listen to the Wind” by Scott Skuggz, written by the evening’s honoree, Marine Sgt. I am truly looking forward to honoring her legacy and service on Saturday, July 16th, at the Sagaponack Farm Distillery."

Honor Flight Long Island wishes you all a Happy Father’s Day, especially to the brave men we call Veterans!

We hope you enjoy this day with your families and children. A special warm wish for those of us who are celebrating separately, and to those whose dads are no longer with them. We salute the brave fathers who have been abroad to fight for the freedom to celebrate with our families today. Thank you so much, from the bottom of our hearts!

If you would like to support these special fathers we call Veterans, please join us at our “Listen to the Wind” Summer Gala hosted by our generous sponsor, Sagaponack Farm Distillery. All proceeds from this event are used to send Veterans on all-expense paid trips to their memorial in Washington, D.C. It is a priceless opportunity for the Veterans to connect with their history, and each other. Upon arrival back home, the Veterans are treated to a proper “Welcome Home!”, which many have never experienced. Another successful Honor Flight in the books for our Long Island Veterans! To all the members of our local community who have supported our efforts, we THANK YOU! These photos are from our June 4th Honor Flight, it was a beautiful day.

Every sponsorship, donation and ticket purchase for our “Listen to the Wind” Gala goes towards putting these smiles on local Veterans’ faces.

With your help we were able to es**rt yet another flight of Veterans to see their memorial in Washington, D.C. at absolutely no cost to the Veteran themselves.

This is a priceless opportunity for those who have fought to reconnect with each other, and experience their history together.

After their trip, they were greeted by dozens of grateful men, women and children - all gathered to give them the “Welcome Home!” they deserve, but many never received.

It fills our hearts to do this work for our Veterans; we owe them a debt that can never be repaid. Thank you so much for all of the local support!

At Honor Flight, every day is Memorial Day. We work tirelessly to remember those who have fallen and to serve those we still can.

Today, we salute the brave men and women who lost their lives defending our American freedom. From the bottom of our hearts, Thank You.
