OK, we’re biased of course, but here are some totally unsolicited comments from people who saw our production of “Sylvia” on opening weekend. Please take their advice and don’t miss out! Our final two performances of “Sylvia” are this weekend (May 1-2).

We open IN TWO DAYS! My goodness, we are so excited we might be chasing our tails with joy!

We have asked our actors one additional question:

What will our audiences get from this production? In other words, why should YOU buy a ticket today?

Chay: I think this is a very funny and a very moving script. Anyone who has ever loved an animal friend will get something out of it.

Mary-Liz: I hope people laugh—a lot—but also recognize themselves somewhere in the messiness of love, partnership, and change. It’s a play about how we grow (or don’t) alongside the people (and sometimes, pets) we love.

Kerry: I hope it will provide some much needed laughter and the opportunity to step away from the ever -increasing stressors of the current world for a couple of hours.

Casey: If we succeed at doing the play justice, I think it will also lead to some interesting perspectives and conversations on marriage and relationships.

You'll just have to see for yourself! *I* think this cast is INCREDIBLE!

It's tech week, y'all! There is always a reason that a busy actor chooses THIS show, rather than all the other opportunities to perform in the Boston area. Let's find out how Casey, Kerry, Mary-Liz and Chay found the path to Sylvia with the Nashoba Players, and what they love about the show.

There are still tickets left, but hurry! https://www.ticketstage.com/T/NASHOBAPLAYERS

We asked the cast of Sylvia:

What do you love about the character(s) you play?

Casey Preston, Greg: "Frankly, I find it easy to connect with the character. The way the character deals with the pain of midlife crisis through a mix of humor, deflection, and avoidance is very interesting."

Kerry Abramov, Sylvia: "Sylvia is all about unconditional love. She gives it and fully expects to receive it. She's got a pure heart but also a tougher side that came from dealing with harsh realities. She's full of joy but also able to step up her game to get what she needs. Essentially she's needy, charming, and chaotic, with boundless energy and no filter. (Which is not completely unlike how I would describe myself.)"

Mary-Liz Murray, Kate: "Kate is at a moment where she’s trying to reclaim parts of herself after years of putting others first, and I think that’s deeply relatable. There’s a version of her that can read as a little sharp, but I see someone who’s asking, “What about me?”—which feels both brave and overdue. Also, as someone married to a man who has brought more animals into my life than I ever could have imagined… I get her."

Chay Tower-Hughes, Phyllis, Leslie, Tom: "I play three very different characters. I love being able to stretch my range and fully inhabit multiple personas within a single show!"

Sylvia: Meet the Cast! The final actor, Chay Tower-Hughes, supplies a multitude of wonderful characters, with his exceptional comedic versatility!

This is Chay’s first show with Nashoba Players. His theater home is Theatre at The Mount in Gardner where he has played Max in Sound of Music, Lord Evelyn Oakleigh in Anything Goes, and the Hermit in Young Frankenstein. Sylvia: Meet the Cast: Kerry Moe Abramov, as Sylvia.

Kerry has been performing on stage for over 40 years, with local productions at Burlington Players, Quannapowitt Players, Concord Players, Hovey Players, and others. While this marks her first production with Nashoba Players, it is her second time enthusiastically bounding into the role of Sylvia, having previously performed it with Theater III in 2019.

In her real life, Kerry is a therapist, a proud mom to her beautiful 20-year-old daughter, Roslynn, and the life partner of her wonderful girlfriend, Brenda.

Special shoutout to the goodest boy, Petie, whose spirit and personality provide excellent inspiration for her character work. And as always, love to her late husband, Leo.
