What a night! MFAS members from South Hadley to Brewster joined us last night to celebrate the installation of the 2026-2027 Board of Trustees! Representative Paul Donato joined to present a Citation from the MA House of Representatives in recognition of the 120th Anniversary of the Society. American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) Trustee (and MFAS Past President) David Alper provided remarks and updates, and Past President Michael Theodoulou conducted the ceremony. Incoming President David Anthony Sipala closed out the evening with remarks on the eve of his Presidency. Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday! We are looking forward to celebrating the 120th Anniversary with a cocktail party in October - see you there!

Yesterday, MFAS Board of Trustees member Dr. Samuel Gorelik and Executive Director Libby Maynard attended a fundraiser for Senator Michael J. Rodrigues, Chair of the Senate Ways and Means Committee. We discussed the importance of passing our Scope modernization bill, establishing a Amputation Prevention Task Force, and other matters that impact DPMs like Prior Authorization and MassHealth coverage. It was a great conversation and we look forward to working with Senator Rodrigues more in the future!

A special congrats to MFAS Treasurer-Secretary on completing the 130th !

The 130th Boston Marathon was run yesterday under cool skies. 30,000 runners participated in the event! The medical tent was staffed by a team of podiatrists led by MFAS member Dr. Jonathan Kaplan. The team included podiatrists Drs. Scott M. Aronson, Carl Conui, David Coker, Samuel Gorelik, Paul Heffernnan, Dorothy Kurtz Phelan, Lori Lundberg, Paula Marella, Michelle Morse, Kirk Neustrom, John Pizzuto, Benjamin Saviet and Neal Zomback. Students from NYCPM, TUSPM, and residents from local hospitals also participated in treating the runners. Pictured are students from NYCPM with Dr. Kaplan.
