On January 26, Westford Chorus will offer a delightful concert of music written since the Chorus's founding in 1983."While We've Been Singing: Music Written Since Our Founding" includes selections of contemporary choral, movie, and Broadway music spanning four decades and is sure to please any taste. The musical sampling will include works by the great contemporary choral composer Eric Whitacre, Elton John (from "The Lion King"), Morten Lauridsen, Sara Bareilles (from "Waitress"), Alan Menken (from "Aladdin" and "Beauty and the Beast"), and more. As Music Director Jim Barkovic commented, "The past 41 years have been a fertile time in the history of choral music writing and arranging!"The concert will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at 3:00 PM at United Methodist Church of Westford, 10 Church Street, Westford, MA. The venue is accessible. Tickets can be purchased online at westfordchorus.org/ticket-purchase or at the door and are priced at $25 for adults, $20 for seniors, $10 for students, and free for children under 5. A recording will be available after the concert; see the website for details.About the Westford ChorusSince its founding in 1983, the Westford Chorus has transcended the boundaries of community chorus by performing diverse and challenging works ranging from Mozart's Requiem to P.D.Q. Bach's The Seasonings, from Baroque to Spanish Christmas carols, from Carmina Burana to jazz, from Broadway to movies, and even to costumed productions of favorites such as Gilbert and Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance, Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, and Bizet's Carmen. The Chorus has sung with orchestral backup, 18-piece swing bands, and eclectic world music groups such as Urban Myth.Westford Chorus is supported in part by grants from the Westford Cultural Council and Chelmsford Cultural Council, local agencies that are supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. Westford Chorus is a member of the Central Massachusetts Choral Consortium and the Greater Boston Choral Consortium.
