A huge thanks to Nashoba Valley Technical High School freshman students & staff for their Day of Service doing trail work on a portion of Mystery Spring trails! They did a wonderful job clearing a lot of brush and clearing multiple bridges along the trail. Thanks also to our trust and Tuesday trail crew Tom and Diane for their work and guidance during this event.

Join MassWildlife and DCR to learn about pine barrens and buck moths!

During this walk, participants will explore the pine barrens at the Myles Standish Complex while learning about buck moths and other Species of Greatest Conservation Need that depend on pine barrens with open tree canopy maintained by fire or other disturbance.

Participants should be prepared for a ~1.5 mile walk and dress for the weather and walking on uneven ground. Register at bit.ly/barrens-buck-moths-2026

The Caterpillar Lab is coming back to Garden in the Woods🐛

From September 4 through September 7, get up close and personal with a variety of local caterpillar species and explore the incredible world of New England caterpillars. Educators from The Caterpillar Lab will teach you all about metamorphosis and tell incredible stories about the creatures' strange and surprising adaptations.⁠

This year, The Caterpillar Lab is offering two types of walks on alternating days through the weekend. Caterpillar Walks for Naturalists provide a deeper exploration of caterpillar ecology, identification, and native plant relationships for serious learners, and Caterpillar Walks for Children and Families feature a fun, engaging experience for curious kids and their grown-ups.

Saturday August 15th from 9-11AM - Volunteer members of Westford Recycling Commission will show Westford residents how to compost organic material which can comprise up to 20% of the weight of our trash. Location is Lawn at 39 Main St Westford Center

Join the Westford Recycling Commission this Saturday, July 18th from 9 - 11 AM for the Westford Composting Open House on the lawn at 39 Main Street (across from Muffins on Main).
