LOOKING FOR A SPECIAL NEEDS FOSTER TO ADOPT HOME: Meet Tulip (Aka Mama), she has had a rough go of things but has been a fighter from the get go. She arrived through our TNR program but with newborns Tulip and was not ready to be spayed and returned. As she cared for her little ones we noticed she had some cloudiness and swelling in her eyes and it was progressing quickly along with developing fluid pockets throughout her body. She was such a caring mom, yet still nervous around people so we spoke with her original caretaker and it was unanimous we all needed to give her a chance. She was surrendered to Feline Friends and we were able to get her in for a checkup, bloodwork and xrays right away. But at her checkup it was determined she needed both eyes out and quickly as the swelling was rapidly progressing. She was a trooper after surgery still caring for her kittens as she seeked them out once back in her foster home. When the biopsy of her eyes came back it was a surprise she had blasto, a fungal infection that is not often seen in cats. She was started on an antifungal medication and within a couple weeks we could see the changes. Her fluid pockets were dissipating and she was healing nicely from her double eye removal. Even with recently becoming blind she continued to take in kittens needing a mother figure and so generously tolerated their rambunctious kitten energy. Now she hangs out in foster with one of our staff members. We are looking for a special kind of place for her to settle into while she finishes her treatment, its easy peasy 1 tablet mixed in wet food once a day. Since her treatment is a bit long we are hoping to find a foster to adopt home for her so she can settle into a home, a routine and figure out the layout of the home and once her meds are finished and shes cleared by the medical team she can be officially adopted by her foster. She has since became a snuggle bug and loves her cat tree. She initially will hiss when introduced to others, probably because she cant see them coming, but seems to quickly settle in and enjoy the company of a Feline friend. She has started playing with toys with bells in them but seems to like just exploring the house and lounging on the couch, bed, her cat tree, in your lap or better yet across your shoulders and back. If Tulip (Mama) tugged at your heartstrings and you'd like to apply to foster to adopt her please reach out via our adoption application below.
