Rialto Center for Creativity

Welcome to Westfield, George Clooney and Annette Bening!

The stars are filming In Love right across the street from the Rialto at Baron’s Drug Store. It’s exciting to see movie magic happening in the heart of town and another reminder of New Jersey’s growing role in film production.

Thanks for keeping movies and the arts alive in NJ!

Thank you to Kevin Miserocchi of the Tee & Charles Addams Foundation for joining us at the Rialto for a special pop-up Spotlight conversation celebrating the legacy of Charles Addams and the work of the foundation dedicated to preserving it. The evening also helped open this year’s AddamsFest Americana Art Exhibit, which features original Addams works alongside new pieces by local artists.

We’re grateful to Kevin for sharing his perspective and to everyone who joined us for the conversation. It was a fitting way to begin another AddamsFest season at the Rialto.

Our Board President Margaret Smith is getting into the AddamsFest spirit! 🎨 Margaret helped The Salad House get ready for the festivities with a Wicked Windows painting inspired by Westfield’s own Charles Addams, putting her own creativity to work for one of the town’s favorite traditions.

AddamsFest is taking over Westfield, and we’re proud to say the Rialto has a cameo in Charles Addams’ story. Long before his famously macabre characters became cultural icons, the Westfield native was a regular at the Rialto. He even immortalized the theater in this cartoon, capturing a familiar hometown landmark through his unmistakable point of view.

As AddamsFest fills Westfield with events celebrating his life and work, it’s especially fitting to revisit the Rialto’s unique connection to one of the town’s most famous creatives.

Our recent benefit event at Crossroads in Garwood brought an incredible crowd together in support of the future Rialto Center for Creativity! The Fundamentals and The Play Trains delivered a fantastic night of live music, and the enthusiasm throughout the room made the evening especially memorable. We even got to see Bill take the stage!

Thank you to the bands, Crossroads, and everyone who came out to support the Rialto Reimagined campaign.
