On the feast of Saint Nicholas December 6, 2025, we were able to gift a handicap accessible van to this single mom of 4- Alicia Colter- and her family. Daughter Mikala is 9, Ariana (who suffers from vanishing white matter disease) is 4 and 1-year old twins Parker and Paisley. Several years ago Michael Colter, father and husband, experienced a severe motorcycle accident that resulted in traumatic brain injury. In December 2024, tragically, Michael took his own life. We feel so incredibly blessed by the generosity of so many who came together to support this family. We are eternally grateful for your support and prayers for the foundation- allowing us to help families like this in Hamilton & Marian counties in Indiana. God bless and ST. NICHOLAS - pray for all of us!

We’d like to share our newest recipient, Alicia Colter & Family. We are hoping to gift this beautiful family a handicap accessible van.
Alicia’s husband, Michael was in a terrible motorcycle accident which resulted in three brain hemorrhages, a skull fracture, and other broken bones. He was in ICU unconscious for 10 days and, upon awakening, he suffered severe traumatic brain injuries. Tragically, Michael ended his own life just a couple of weeks before Christmas 2024, leaving Alicia a single mom of 4 daughters. Mikaela- 9 yrs, Ariana- 4 yrs, and one year old twins, Parker & Paisley.
Ariana, the 4 year old, was diagnosed with Vanishing White Matter Disease in December 2022 and also has Epilepsy. Ariana has no head control and currently rides in a carseat in their family vehicle. It is becoming increasingly more difficult to get Ariana in and out of their vehicle and there is also fear of pulling out her feeding tube or dropping her which could result in a dramatic progression of her disease. Ariana will soon have a new adaptive stroller that will need to be strapped into the vehicle instead of using a carseat. This will be more comfortable for Ariana and safer for Alicia to move her in and out of the vehicle. Having an accessible vehicle would allow safer transportation for Ariana to her many doctors appointments and family activities, while using her adaptive stroller, and will also meet her future needs as she grows.

The cost of the van is approximately $80,000 However, if we exceed the projected costs, St. Nicholas may even be able to provide something special for the Colter girls for Christmas!

Please consider donating on our website www.stnicholasneighborinneed.squarespace.com and hit the donate button to help Alicia and her family. God bless you! May St. Nicholas pray for the Colters and all of us as we strive to improve the quality of life for this sweet family.

Praise God for the generosity of so many as we were able to provide a handicap accessible van to Veronica Farrell on September 23, 2024!

Veronica attended Carmel High School and is currently a freshman at the University of Indianapolis. Veronica has a medical condition called Diastrophic Dysplasia, a form of dwarfism, which requires several very specific modifications to her vehicle.

Veronica is thrilled to be able to have a reliable handicap accessible van which will assist her in attending school, going to work, and to her doctor appointments, as well as traveling home to see family and friends.

A HUGE shout out to all who have helped make this possible as we continue with our mission to help improve the quality of life for our neighbors in need in Marion and Hamilton Counties in Indiana!

God bless you all!

What a blessing to be able to gift Corban Phillips and his family a handicap accessible van from Superior Van & Mobility Saturday afternoon. In August, Corban suffered a severe spinal cord injury from a trampoline accident. A sincere thank you to all who helped make this van possible for the Philips family. We are so grateful for all of our generous donors and those who came to celebrate the blessing of this van on Saturday. Final thank you to Caelyn, Corban’s sister, for creating a very special keychain pictured above, Father Richard from Our Lady of Mount Carmel for blessing the van and to Superior Van & Mobility for providing a wonderful lunch for the celebration.

The foundation has recently discerned to assist Fred Vaiana in providing quality of life improvements for Fred and his family.

Fred has suffered from MS for the past 20 and on his 60th birthday, one year ago, he was in a horrific automobile accident while driving his van and spend 60 painfilled days in the hospital.

Before the accident, Fred could get in and out of his motorized wheelchair by himself. After this accident, Fred is now totally dependent on others for care.
Additionally, Fred’s new state of life requires an abundance of additional medical supplies.

Fred’s van was totaled in the accident and a good portion of the insurance money was utilized for other critical needs instead of a replacement van.

The foundation is striving to:
• purchase a used handicap accessible van (approximately $70,000) for Fred’s transportation needs.
• purchase needed medical supplies (around $10,000)
• assist with some of the burden of the high insurance payment (approximately $50,000)
• provide at-home care (approximately $20,000) for several months.

Please join us in praying for Fred during his continued recovery from the car accident & for perseverance as he continues to face the many challenges of living with MS for over 20 years and also for his family's intentions.
