Today is the 21st Annual LGBTQ Families Day, a day to celebrate the many families with LGBTQ people in them. We want to raise awareness of the diversity, joys, and challenges of all LGBTQ families—found, formed, and chosen—and to show their strength, elevate their collective stories, and reaffirm allies’ support.

This past week, Westfield Pride collaborated with Crate Escapes for a fundraiser where we built two chairs! Now those chairs will be available at Crate Escapes with a plaque that says Westfield Pride. If you and any furry friends stop by Crate Escapes, take a pic posing in the chairs and share it here!

Harvey Milk (May 22, 1930 – November 27, 1978) was a pioneering LGBTQ+ activist and politician who made history in 1977 as the first openly gay elected official in California when he won a seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Tragically, in November 1978, Milk was assassinated after only 11 months in office.

Harvey Milk Day came about as a day to remember and teach about Milk's life and his work to stop discrimination against the LGBTQIA+ community.

National Asian & Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day brings attention to the impact of HIV within Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities and the stigma that too often keeps these conversations hidden.

This NAPIHAAD, it is up to us to spread awareness about the health disparities experienced by Asians, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders while we all work towards eliminating the HIV epidemic among these communities.
