October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This topic requires strength, transparency and vulnerability. We often think of domestic violence as physical abuse and the victim as being helpless. DV is deeper than physical abuse. 💜💜

There are individuals who don’t know they are victims because they fought back. You can defend yourself and still be a recipient of abuse. 💜💜

“Domestic violence is a pattern of behavior in any relationship that is used to gain or maintain power and control over an intimate partner” 💜💜

Can include: Psychological and/or emotional abuse. Physical or sexual abuse. Financial or economic abuse. Harassment and stalking. 💜💜

Emotional manipulation is also considered to be abuse. Individuals with narcissistic personality traits often use manipulation to gain control over their partners. 💜💜
