IEA - Interscholastic Equestrian Association IEA provides an accessible gateway to equestrian sport for youth riders in grades 4-12. Inclusive. Equitable. Affordable. WHAT MAKES UP AN IEA TEAM?

The Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to promoting lifelong involvement in equestrian athletics by offering a unique draw-based competition format for young riders in grades 4-12, allowing them to compete without owning a horse or riding equipment, providing affordable and equitable access to the sport. IEA has over 14,600 members across th

e United States participating in Hunt Seat, Western and Dressage disciplines. A coach (21 years or older);
2. Three or more riders in either middle school (4th - 8th) or high school (9th - 12th) riding in the same discipline;
3. Access to an equine facility for lessons and horses;
4. Coach must carry insurance (available through IEA). HOW DO YOU JOIN AN EXISTING TEAM?
1. Go to www.rideiea.org and find your discipline.
2. Click on "Find a Team" under the discipline.
3. View maps and contact info of teams in your state.
4. IMPORTANT: CONTACT several coaches close to you to learn about their team requirements. Each coach conducts their team a little differently.
5. Once you have decided on a coach/team - JOIN the IEA as a rider member for that team on the IEA JOIN page. (Your new coach can help you.) The 2024 IEA Hunt Seat and Dressage National Finals will be held at Tryon International Equestrian Center in Tryon, NC in late April 2024. The 2024 IEA Western National Finals will be held at the Will Rogers Equestrian Complex in Fort Worth, TX during the APHA World Show in late June/early July 2024.

So, how much does it cost to JOIN the IEA?

Here is a visual breakdown of MEMBERSHIP and COMPETITION fees for the 2026-2027 IEA Season.

Please Note: Riders are responsible for their own show clothing as outlined in the IEA rule book. Any additional fees for lessons, team practices, show coaching, team apparel, team participation, travel, etc. are determined by each individual coach/team independent of IEA and may vary geographically.

INCREDIBLE!

All 3 Recipients of the 2026 USHJA Gochman Grant for USEF Pony Finals are IEA RIDERS!!! A huge congratulations to Madeline Gross, Sofia Richardella and Emily Bruss!

Madeline is a current IEA Zone 4 National Youth Board Member who rides on the Ravenwood Farm IEA Team (Z4) coached by Tiffany Suto and Kasey Parker.

Sofia was a previous Zone 7 National Youth Board Member who rode on the CPM Equestrian Team (Z7) and qualified for National Finals 3 times.

Emily rides on the Oak Hill Equestrian Team (Z1) coached by Pamela Bruss, Kristen Wesoja and Jennifer Burns.

Best of luck at Pony Finals, Ladies! We will be watching and rooting for you!
