Justin Aardsma has initiated a Gofundme fundraiser to support Tommy Barcy's family following a tragic construction accident and sudden loss to the family. Tommy was a cherished brother, son, friend, and father. His only daughter will be graduating high school in a few weeks and his family is now faced with the challenges of covering funeral expenses and providing him with a proper farewell. We kindly ask you to consider sharing this information and/or donating if you are able. A new glass-and-steel “jewel box” in suburban Chicago is a training ground for the next generation of ironworkers--and a monument to the craft itself!

Iron Workers Local #63 specializes in architectural and ornamental work. As such, the union’s training center needed to be not just a classroom but a billboard for the trade, putting its skills--including welding, rigging, and curtain wall installation--on full display for the thousands of commuters passing by every day.

2026 Polar Plunge® Chicago for Special Olympics Illinois presented by Special Children's Charities

Another new year and another year where a group of Ironworkers Local #63 members will be plunging into frigid Lake Michigan in March. We are incredibly proud to the the team with the best swag as we have been every year. This event helps to fund the Special Olympics, which has its roots deep in Chicago as well as the Labor Community.

On Sunday, March 1, 2026 our team will participate in Polar Plunge® Chicago for Special Olympics Illinois presented by Special Children's Charities, one of the city's most popular winter fundraising events! We are excited to take on the challenge and jump into Lake Michigan's chilly waters to support thousands of individuals with intellectual disabilities. Through your donations, people with intellectual disabilities can discover new strengths, abilities, and accomplishments.

There are three easy ways to support our plunging efforts:
