For 50 years, The Summit Lighthouse has published the Teachings of the Ascended Masters - the mystics and sages of East and West who have graduated from earth's schoolroom and attained union with God. The Book of Enoch
The Book of Genesis records that Enoch was the seventh generation from Adam and that "he walked with God: and he was not; for God took him." In the Ascended Masters' teachings, Enoch was a priest of the sacred fire and a priest of the Order of Melchizedek.
The Book of Enoch, attributed to him, is an ancient Jewish apocalyptic text that is not included in the standard biblical canon of most Christian traditions, although it was preserved by the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. It is generally published today as a separate volume.
The Book of Enoch was known and widely read among ancient Jewish and early Christian communities, and a passage from it is quoted in the New Testament Book of Jude. Nevertheless, it was eventually excluded from the biblical canon accepted by most Christian churches. Its detailed teachings concerning angels, the Watchers, heavenly mysteries, and the supernatural world differed significantly from the theology that became established within the institutional Church.
Elizabeth Clare Prophet taught that important truths and teachings were suppressed or removed as Church doctrine developed and religious authorities sought to determine what Christians would be permitted to accept as scripture. In her introduction to The Lost Teachings of Jesus, she examines evidence from ancient biblical manuscripts, including the fourth-century Codex Sinaiticus, showing passages that were altered by later scribes. One of the major differences between Genesis and the Book of Enoch concerns the origin of evil in the world. Genesis focuses primarily on the rebellion in the Garden of Eden. Enoch reveals another dimension—the rebellion of a group of angels called the "Watchers," who descended into physical embodiment, took human wives, and introduced forbidden knowledge to humanity, including warfare, weapons, and sorcery.
A central theme of the Book of Enoch is the final judgment of the Watchers and their progeny. Enoch himself was sent to convey God's judgment to them. Terrified and trembling, the Watchers asked Enoch to petition God on their behalf. Enoch did so, but God's judgment remained: "Nevermore shall you ascend into heaven." Enoch set forth his book for our wisdom, admonishment, and warning.
Lord Maitreya has spoken of our relationship with Enoch:
"The treasure of the book and the many books written by your Father Enoch is still held within the very heart of the earth. Three hundred sixty-six books did Enoch write in the presence of God when he was taken up to the highest heaven....
"I desire you to understand that all of heaven has conspired together to deliver the Word of God, which God gave to Enoch, through these two witnesses. For this teaching to Enoch was for you personally—for all the descendants of light who came through Adam and reincarnated again, for every embodied angel who embodied for the rescue of the lightbearers....
"I pray that you will pursue a study of this text of the Secrets of Enoch and that you will realize how close you are to that ascended master and how dearly he loves you as Father and father figure in your midst, and how determined he is to promote your calling, your mission, and the spreading of the Word of these books and teachings until all for whom they have been secured may have them and make the choice to ascend to God as he did." —Lord Maitreya

Christopher Columbus: A Controversial Legacy and a Divine Mission
In recent years, Columbus Day has become increasingly controversial. Critics point to the enslavement, violence, and suffering experienced by Indigenous peoples following European exploration and colonization and argue that Christopher Columbus should not be celebrated as a hero. Many communities now observe Indigenous Peoples' Day instead, honoring the history, cultures, and contributions of Native Americans.

But what do the ascended masters say about Christopher Columbus and his role in history?

On October 12, 1492, Christopher Columbus arrived in the Bahamas after sailing westward from Spain in search of a new route to Asia. Although Norse explorers had reached North America centuries earlier, Columbus's voyage opened the way for sustained contact between Europe and the Americas. This encounter transformed the world through the exchange of plants, animals, foods, and cultures, but it also brought European colonization, disease, and exploitation to Indigenous populations.

Columbus Day became an annual federal observance in 1937 and was originally celebrated on October 12. Since 1971, the federal holiday has been observed on the second Monday in October.

The teachings of the ascended masters reveal that Christopher Columbus was a previous embodiment of the ascended master Saint Germain, the sponsor of freedom and the Aquarian Age. His voyage to the New World was part of a divine plan to establish a land where religious liberty, individual freedom, and spiritual enlightenment could flourish.

In a dictation delivered on October 9, 1959, El Morya honored Saint Germain's mission as Columbus and explained that his exploration helped prepare America for her spiritual destiny. He encouraged students to honor Saint Germain on Columbus Day and unite with those dedicated to freedom, justice, equality, and love.

The deeper significance of Columbus Day, therefore, extends beyond the achievements of an explorer. It celebrates Saint Germain's continuing mission to establish freedom on earth and prepare America to fulfill her divine destiny.

El Morya said:

“The meaning of America is clear to every sincere student of the Law of Life who, loving the I AM Presence with all his or her heart, will take time to meditate upon it. For true Americans are those who love and practice freedom regardless of their national origin or location on this planet.”

Twin Flames
Twin flames were created together in the beginning and share a unique destiny. Created in a single fiery ovoid, they were separated into two spheres of being-one in a masculine polarity and the other in a feminine polarity-but each with the same pattern of divine identity. Though they spend some lifetimes together and others apart, their tie is eternal, and after they have each united with their Higher Self they will ascend and be together forever. But not all the beautiful and soul fulfilling loves are those of twin flames.

Each set of twin flames is created out of the same White Fire Body by the Father-Mother God, Elohim, in the heart of the Great Central Sun. Within this single fiery ovoid, which is God, twin flames evolve their God-Identity by cycling through the concentric spheres of the causal body, which surrounds the White Fire Body.
The White Fire Body divides into two identical spheres, each consisting of the I AM Presence surrounded by the causal body. One of these twin spheres is charged with the masculine polarity and the other with the feminine polarity of the Divine Whole, yet each Divine Monad contains within itself the plus/minus polarity of the T’ai Chi and is androgynous. The I AM Presence of each one then sends forth the soul of the twin flame.
As divine counterparts who are created from the same White Fire Body, twin flames share a unique electronic blueprint which none other will ever have; likewise their cosmic destiny is unique and none can fulfill it in their place.

The Story of El Morya
In his final embodiment in the 19th century, El Morya was born El Morya Khan, a Rajput prince in India. He later became a monk and frequented the spiritual retreats of the Himalayas. Known as Mahatma Morya, Master M., and the Master of Darjeeling, he worked closely with the masters Koot Hoomi and Djwal Kul to bring the ancient wisdom of the East to the Western world.

In 1875, El Morya and other masters sponsored the founding of the Theosophical Society through Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, Henry Steel Olcott, and their associates. El Morya directed Blavatsky to teach Western seekers about karma, reincarnation, spiritual evolution, and the universal truths underlying the world's religions. El Morya also corresponded with other Theosophists, and some of these communications were preserved in The Mahatma Letters.

In 1898, El Morya ascended, but his work was far from finished. His mission to bring the ancient wisdom of the masters to the Western world would continue through another messenger in the twentieth century.

Decades later, the ascended master El Morya appeared to a young Mark L. Prophet. When Mark encountered the turbaned Eastern master, he could not reconcile this unfamiliar figure with his Christian faith and asked him to leave. Years later, Mark came to understand that the path of the ascended masters was also the path taught by Jesus. El Morya returned, and Mark accepted him as his guru, beginning a demanding course of spiritual training and discipleship.

In 1952, Mark began publishing the Ashram Notes, teachings dictated by El Morya from his etheric retreat in Darjeeling, India. In 1958, El Morya sent Mark to Washington, D.C., to establish The Summit Lighthouse. On August 8 of that year, El Morya dictated the first Pearl of Wisdom, beginning a series of weekly teachings that continues today.

In 1961, El Morya guided Elizabeth Clare Wulf to Mark Prophet, who began training her as a Messenger alongside Mark. Elizabeth received the mantle of Messenger in 1964, ensuring that the work would continue following Mark's ascension in 1973.

Today, El Morya serves as Chohan of the First Ray of God's Will and continues to guide chelas in developing courage, faith, self-mastery, and obedience to God's will. His work through Blavatsky, Mark Prophet, and Elizabeth Clare Prophet reflects a continuing mission to awaken souls to their divine potential and establish God's will on earth.

The Sponsor of the United States of America
In the teachings of The Summit Lighthouse, the ascended master Saint Germain is the spiritual sponsor and guardian of the United States of America. He guides and protects America's divine destiny of liberty, freedom, and representative government.

Saint Germain is one of fourteen ascended masters appointed by God to direct the course and govern the destiny of the United States. These great beings of light come from the God Star, Sirius, the seat of God-government in this galaxy. Together, they sponsor the establishment of God-government in America and work to help the nation fulfill its divine purpose.

Under their sponsorship, America is intended to become an example of freedom and enlightened government, providing an opportunity for its people to pursue both individual liberty and their spiritual destiny.

Saint Germain’s twin flame, Lady Master Portia, is the sponsor of the flame of justice and opportunity.

The Goal of the Soul
The goal of the soul is to return to God, short and simple.

Through many embodiments, the soul grows spiritually, learns to master her thoughts, feelings, and desires, and works through the karma she has created. Along the way, she develops divine qualities such as love, mercy, compassion, wisdom, and self-mastery. The violet flame helps the soul transmute the negative karma and records that she picked up along the way that stand in the way of her spiritual freedom.

As the soul becomes purified and increasingly one with her divine Self, she is freed from the cycle of rebirth and prepared for the ascension—her final reunion with God.

The Father-Mother God / Alpha and Omega
Alpha and Omega represent the Father-Mother God in the heart of the Great Central Sun. They are the highest known individualization of the masculine and feminine polarities of the Deity.

Alpha represents God as Father and Omega represents God as Mother. Together, as twin flames, they hold the balance of the masculine and feminine aspects of the Godhead. John the Beloved spoke of Alpha and Omega in Revelation as “the beginning and the ending.” They represent the origin and fulfillment of all cycles of life.

Through the Universal Christ, the Word incarnate, the Father is the source of creation and the Mother brings that creation into manifestation. Spirit is expressed through Matter, uniting the masculine and feminine principles of God.

This helps us understand why God as Mother is also called the Divine Mother, Universal Mother, and Cosmic Virgin. The Mother receives the energies of Spirit and brings them forth into form.

Even the word Matter reflects this relationship. It is connected with the Latin word mater, meaning “mother.” Matter is the feminine polarity of Spirit, and the material cosmos becomes the womb of creation into which Spirit projects the energies of life.

Thus, Father and Mother, Spirit and Matter, Alpha and Omega express the divine wholeness of God—from the beginning of creation to its fulfillment.

Jesus and Holy Communion
The blessing of the bread and the w**e is an ancient Jewish tradition which commemorates the Sabbath and other holy days. It is a ritual which can be traced back even to Melchizedek who “brought forth bread and w**e” when he blessed Abraham. On Friday evenings, the beginning of the Jewish Sabbath, a ceremonial blessing is first pronounced over the w**e and then over two loaves of bread, which symbolize the double portion of manna that fell in the desert on the sixth day.
The ‘sacrament’ of Holy Communion was instituted by Jesus at the Last Supper, when Christ and his apostles were celebrating the feast of the unleavened bread, or Passover.
At the Last Supper, Jesus... “took bread and when he had given thanks, he brake it and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.” - Matt. 26:17–20, 26–29; Mark 14:12–17, 22–25; Luke 22:7–20
As recorded in John 6, Jesus had also earlier admonished:
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. I am that bread of life. Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.... Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life….”

Taken literally, these words may sound shocking and upsetting. But when we look at them through a spiritual lens, we understand what a true master teacher or Guru is actually doing. The master perfectly balances the highest spiritual realm and the physical world-the ultimate cosmic opposites. At his last meal with his disciples, he created the ritual of communion. He did this so that for the next two thousand years, he could pass his divine energy and essence down to anyone willing to receive it.

In this ritual, his "blood" represents pure Spirit energy, and his "body" represents physical Matter. Within himself, he holds a perfect, flawless balance of the universe's masculine and feminine spiritual energies. This combined energy is like a sacred fire. Right now, it is too powerful for us to absorb all at once because our own bodies and souls are out of alignment. This internal imbalance is caused by karma, which disrupts our own inner masculine and feminine energies. If we were to suddenly absorb the full force of that ultimate Christ-consciousness, it would completely overwhelm us. Because of this, the great teacher and Savior helps us on our journey by passing his light and spiritual achievements to us gradually-step by step, blessing by blessing, and lesson by lesson. He came to Earth to guide us so that we could eventually become just like him.

When we take Holy Communion in a Christian church, we are accepting God's gift of divine family and promising to stay connected to that spiritual home. Every time we take part in this ritual, we must leave the altar determined to show his Spirit to the world through our daily words and actions. Each time we accept the bread and w**e-believing it truly transforms into the body and blood of Christ—we absorb the flame of our own inner divinity. We do this piece by piece, drop by drop, and step by step.

The Past Is Prologue
The phrase "the past is prologue" is found in Shakespeare's play The Tempest. Antonio uses it while trying to persuade Sebastian to murder his brother, Alonso, the King of Naples, so that Sebastian can take the throne. The past, Antonio suggests, has merely set the stage for what they will choose to do next.
Though found in Shakespeare—the pen name used by Francis Bacon —the phrase expresses a universal idea: what has happened up until now only sets the stage. We are the creators of our own lives and the authors of our own story. The future begins right now on a blank page.
According to Elizabeth Clare Prophet, "We cannot dwell on the past, or the problem, or the imperfection, or anything that has gone on, because our God is with us. We cannot let go of our Christ-reality."
Keepers of the Flame at The Summit Lighthouse know "the past is prologue" as one of El Morya's favorite expressions. He has said:
"The past is prologue; the future glows as a sun of hope. Let us magnify it, let us sustain it, let us expand it, let us become it. God wills it and awaits our will to join his own." —Beloved El Morya, Vol. 10 No. 50, December 10, 1967
Years later, El Morya returned to this theme:
“Let us draw the line! Let us remember that I have said the past is prologue, that Alpha has said it is a new era. Will you not accept the will of God that proclaims your union with your own Christ Self? Will you not realize that the saints who longed for this union did not have the violet flame, did not live in an age of such intense acceleration sponsored by Saint Germain and Mother Mary and Portia and the archangels?”

“…Be not beset by the condemnation that tells you if you make a mistake or misqualify energy or do something wrong that your Christ Self has cast you down and cast you out and rejected you as unacceptable! Saint Francis and Kuthumi
Saint Francis of Assisi is best known for renouncing a life of wealth to embrace poverty and simplicity, for his profound love of God and all creation, and for founding the Franciscan religious orders. Born into a prosperous merchant family, Francis gave up his inheritance and worldly possessions to devote his life completely to God. He regarded all creation as part of one divine family, referring to the creatures and forces of nature as his brothers and sisters. His extraordinary love for animals and nature is reflected in the well-known accounts of his preaching to the birds.

In 1209, Francis founded the Order of Friars Minor, known as the Franciscans, and later helped establish the Poor Clares and a third order for laypeople. He was the first recorded person in Christian history to receive the stigmata, bearing the wounds associated with the crucifixion of Jesus. In 1223, at Greccio, Italy, he also created the first known live Nativity scene to bring the story of Jesus' birth closer to the people.

Known today as the beloved ascended master Kuthumi, Saint Francis serves with Jesus in the office of World Teacher. Kuthumi is also the head master of the Brothers of the Golden Robe, training students on the ray of wisdom in meditation and the science of the Word so that they may become master psychologists of their own psyche, or soul.

In his final embodiment, Kuthumi was Koot Hoomi Lal Singh, also known as Koot Hoomi or K.H. Born in the early nineteenth century, he was a Punjabi whose family had settled in Kashmir and lived much of his life in seclusion. Together with El Morya, Kuthumi sponsored the founding of the Theosophical Society in 1875 through Helena P. Blavatsky. Its purpose was to reacquaint humanity with the ancient wisdom underlying the world's religions and the inner teachings preserved in the mystery schools since the latter days of Lemuria and Atlantis. These teachings included reincarnation-which Saint Francis had also preached-and the ascension as the ultimate goal of life.

Kuthumi made his ascension at the end of the nineteenth century and continues his service with Jesus as World Teacher, helping souls develop divine wisdom and attain the mastery that leads ultimately to reunion with God.
