With so much going on in the world today, the Batty's Kids organization would be remiss to not share with you our feelings regarding recent events. We are tired! Tired of going to sleep each night seeing a community of people who look like us under military siege. Tired of seeing crying black mothers distraught over the loss of their sons by the hands that were sworn to protect. Tired of hearing report after report of people under attack from tear gas. Tired of explaining to white people why our anger is justified, why looting, which is a property crime, should not even be part of a conversation about the killing of a teenager, why the alleged shoplifting of ci******es is not a capital offense, why the police officer who killed Mike for the crime of walking in the street is the real thug. The killing of unarmed teenagers by police officers is lawlessness. It shows a lack of respect for the sanctity of life and the rule of law. The supreme irony is seeing folks defend the officer’s lawlessness while calling for people destroying property to respect the law. These are scary times. They are times for rage. Time for telling the truth. Time for ripping the band-aids off our gaping wounds. Time to recognize that we can neither heal nor fix that which we will not confront. Time to show that Black Lives do Matter! Batty's kids would like you to come out and Join us on December 24th at the Thomas Thomas H. Slater Community Center, Inc. where we will have an informational on how we can implement this change within our own Community.

Our Annual Back to School Giveaway will be held on Monday September 1st from 1-5pm at the Thomas H. Slater Community Center, Inc. in White Plains. Kids will receive a backpack filled with school supplies needed for the upcoming school year. Free food and games, all are welcome to attend. If you are interested in volunteering please contact me. I am also looking for barbers willing to donate their time and talent to the community to provide back to school haircuts for students on that day. Please let me know if you or someone you know are interested

Join Batty as he takes a few of Batty's kids to see the New York Yankee's take on The Tigers in the Bronx on Wednesday August 6th, 2014 at 7pm. Tickets are limited, send us a message if you and your child are interested in attending.

This Saturday from 12-7pm Love yourself Committee and Batty's kids is hosting our annual Cookout at Delfino park. Free food, drinks and entertainment for entire family. Games, prizes, and plenty of fun for the kids. This year we will be raffling off a flat screen TV and other items. Come out and enjoy yourself, and reconnect with old friends while making new ones.
