Meet Lieutenant Dan. 🐾💙
This tiny kitten was born with a genetic deformity that left him without the use of his back legs. He was surrendered to the ACC and quickly placed on a medical deadline — meaning if a rescue didn’t step up, his life could end there.
I had very little time to make a decision.
Sometimes the decision is easy. There are certain animals I see — animals I’ve never even met — and for whatever reason, I just feel drawn to them. I can’t always explain it. I just know when I’m supposed to say yes.
Lieutenant Dan was one of those animals.
He is strong. He is healthy. He is vibrant. And because this is the only life he has ever known, Lieutenant Dan doesn’t look at himself as disabled. To him, this is simply normal. He plays, he explores, and he keeps moving forward in his own way.
He has a long road ahead of him, and most likely, both of his rear legs will eventually need to be amputated. We don’t know exactly what his journey will look like yet, but we do know one thing — he will never have to face it alone.
Taking on animals like Lieutenant Dan comes with enormous medical expenses, and we need your help to continue saying yes when animals like him need us most.
If you are able, please consider making a donation toward Lieutenant Dan’s care and the many other animals currently depending on our rescue.
Every donation, every share, and every person who supports us makes it possible for us to keep going.
We truly cannot do this without you. 💙🐾
