I have something interesting to throw out tonight following our monthly meeting. For a year or so I've been wanting to get a youth program going with the Coulee Antique Engine Club. I think we are one step closer.
My goal is to get enough involvement to get a building just for youth on our grounds! But I need to make sure we have interest before we got that far into it. So...
We have a club member with a large shop who has graciously agreed to allow us to meet and use his shop (located in between Westby and Viroqua) one Saturday a month during a test program to see how much interest we would have! We want to get some projects going to teach young people how engines work and how to work on them! If we get enough kids on board we can see about a building at the grounds and increase the number of Saturdays! ❤️
There would be no cost to participate, the requirement would be to give 8 hours of volunteer work over the course of our annual 3 day show. That could be helping direct cars for parking, helping at the entrance barn, kitchen, garbage patrol, car show etc.
If you have a young person, 4th grade and up, interested in engines or restoration of antique engines, tractors etc, please get me a call. I am in hopes of having the first youth day as early as October.
Cynthia (608)632-9620. Please leave a message if necessary, I have a crazy 40 hour a week job and I can't always answer my phone and I go to bed really early and sleep through my phone calls! 😆 Please feel free to share this post, A LOT. Let's see if we can get this youth program off the ground!
