I have something interesting to throw out tonight following our monthly meeting. For a year or so I've been wanting to get a youth program going with the Coulee Antique Engine Club. I think we are one step closer.

My goal is to get enough involvement to get a building just for youth on our grounds! But I need to make sure we have interest before we got that far into it. So...

We have a club member with a large shop who has graciously agreed to allow us to meet and use his shop (located in between Westby and Viroqua) one Saturday a month during a test program to see how much interest we would have! We want to get some projects going to teach young people how engines work and how to work on them! If we get enough kids on board we can see about a building at the grounds and increase the number of Saturdays! ❤️

There would be no cost to participate, the requirement would be to give 8 hours of volunteer work over the course of our annual 3 day show. That could be helping direct cars for parking, helping at the entrance barn, kitchen, garbage patrol, car show etc.

If you have a young person, 4th grade and up, interested in engines or restoration of antique engines, tractors etc, please get me a call. I am in hopes of having the first youth day as early as October.

Cynthia (608)632-9620. Please leave a message if necessary, I have a crazy 40 hour a week job and I can't always answer my phone and I go to bed really early and sleep through my phone calls! 😆 Please feel free to share this post, A LOT. Let's see if we can get this youth program off the ground!

As you know the first weekend in August myself and Nicolette plan, prepare and cook food for three days for the Coulee Antique Engine Club. It's not necessarily "fun", it's a lot of hard work!!! I take a lot of pride in what we do up there. Every year we've grown, improved and had a great time seeing familiar faces AND meeting new people!

We are a small club and it takes a lot of people to put on the show! There's so much planning and hard work that goes into it! That being said, we can end up spread quite thin and year after year as the show grows, I find myself leaning more and more on my friends and family to help out. I have to say thank you to some key people (who are not club members) who helped myself and Nicolette make this happen.

Teresa Pulham she kept Zenneth for us Friday during the day and sent her sons Re*****on and Noah to help us in the kitchen during the day. She helped us for a second year in the stand by the pulling track both Friday and Saturday nights, she ran for me to grab anything and everything I needed whenever I was in a jam! Re*****on, Noah and Lily for keeping an eye on Z during the pull, Teresa's hubby Wade for watching Kileys daughter. Kiley Kneifl, Teresa's daughter, who for a second year also helped in the stand. Holly Honish, a new face in the stand this year, she jumped right in, learned on the fly and helped make Friday night happen and also a fun time. Tanya and Cody Sunday, Tanya run literally wherever I needed Friday, she and her young daughter Lily spend the day in the kitchen with us, Tanya was part of the crew in the stand that night and Cody ran to IGA in the middle of the pull when of all things we run out of ketsup! Skylar Kneifl and his wife Dina Jo, Teresa's son and daughter-in-law, they jumped in for a while Friday night helping fill pop and getting us anything we needed. Last but not least, my son Kyle Kast for making a flying trip to Sams Club Saturday morning and his dad Wayne Kast for letting us use his 4 wheeler all weekend (he does this for us every year!). That 4 wheeler makes things happen because we literally run back and forth between 2 buildings Friday and Saturday!

I sincerely hope I haven't forgotten anyone. Thank you from not only myself, but the Coulee Antique Engine Club! We literally COULD NOT have done this without you! ❤️

As much as I love the full blown 3 day show...breakfast with friends on a quiet rainy morning is just as nice! The gentleman waving is Gay Wilkinson, the gentleman in the light blue shirt across from him is his son-in-law Adam Brown, they are our anvil shooting friends from Missouri! We have sure enjoyed having them! Not only for the show their anvils give us, but they are wonderful new friends to us here at Coulee Antique Engine Club!

The rain seems to be pretty much done! There won't be any anvil shooting today, but the show is open! Come on out and see us!

When you spend a lot of time working on a car show, the last thing you want to see is rain in the forecast, worse yet, to see that forecast come to life...

As of right now, 5:45am (ish), I haven't heard any word one way or another what, if any event changes have been made due to weather and the radar looks like things are going to clear up mid morning.

We knew this was coming and announced early that the car show would be down graded to shine and show, there will not be any judging today, no registration fees etc. BUT please don't let that discourage you from coming on out to grounds! We'd love to have you and look forward to seeing people that come back year after year and love meeting new people.

Check back for any updates or give myself (Cynthia) 608-632-9620 or David 608-632-1502 a call.

There will be so much to see and do on the grounds. You just may need an umbrella if you come really early. Breakfast will be on at the Hit & Miss Cafe at 8am!

I wanted to take a minute to talk about this pedal car again this morning. It is on a silent auction this weekend at the show. Right now the bid stands at $450!

A HUGE, and I mean HUGE thank you to DC Kustoms for restoring it for us last year! It is absolutely gorgeous! They do amazing work!

The anvils are due to start shooting at 11am! Pumpkin chunking today too! The American Mini Pullers hit the track at 5pm and we will make our way once again to the rootbeer stand at the track with cold drinks and hot food!

We are located 2 miles N of Westby on Hwy 27! Come see the past come to life!

I wanted to jump on here quick and post an update on the car show. The weather does not seem to be our friend. It's just in addition to other things that are proving to be bumps in the road!

Here's the game plan. Come on out if you'd like to brave the weather. We would love to have you! But we're not going to plan a judged event as we just don't expect many cars with the storms they are calling for.

Show and shine...and darn it for the reverse rain dances not working out. 😕

Cynthia has been so absent! Ugh! My most sincere apologies! I've been a bit under the weather! Imagine a sinus infection in July! How dumb is that? 🤦‍♀️

The 51st Coulee Antique Engine Show kicks off Friday August 5th, the gates open at 8am and the coffee will be on at the Hit & Miss Cafe! Come for breakfast and stay all day!

This year's feature tractor is the Allis-Chalmers and if you find one of these disc's on the grounds, come turn it in at the Cafe for your choice of a free French fry, popcorn or pickle! 6 hidden daily!

We have a flea market, kids activities, rows and rows of tractors, engines and farm equipment. We have an engine building that houses the coolest engine there! Have you ever seen an engine blow smoke rings? The exhibition building has multiple displays of miniatures and also the place to stop for ice cream and/or pie at the women's building! Saw mill and trashing demonstrations too!

Friday night at 6pm the antique tractor pull starts! Hot food and cold drinks at the old fashioned rootbeer stand AND this is what everyone is waiting to hear! ... this year Adam Brown is back for the anvil shoot! AND he's bringing another shooter, Gay Wilkinson! If that name sounds familiar, Gay has shot anvils on TV with Larry the Cable Guy!!! An hour before the pull starts, pumpkins are going to be flying! Then anvils! Then tractors competing to pull down that track! Please inquire at the pull if your interested in chunking a pumpkin or paying for an extra anvil shoot!

This post is getting dangerously long but hopefully not boring! Saturday the gates open at 8am again, come see what you may have missed on Friday! More pumpkins and anvils flying around 11am and 1pm...the American Mini Pullers hit the track at 5pm! The rootbeer stand will be open!

On Sunday! The car show! 9am registration, 2pm awards! Dash plaques, door prizes, free water and popcorn while supplies last! $10 registration. Free admission for 2 onto the grounds for coming to show! And you guessed it, anvils and pumpkins flying again. 11am shoot planned!

We have a small army lined up to serve you food Friday, maybe a little on the light side for staff on Saturday and Sunday. Interested in helping out? Give me a call, Cynthia cell (608)632-9620. Leave a message if necessary, I still have 2 shifts this week at my paying job! Lol!

We are located 2 miles N of Westby on Highway 27! $7 gate charge daily.
