The Beach Jam for Breast Cancer Patient Care is an annual event that was started in 2009 by Jim Pino Jr., Skip Swift and the band Freeplay at the Westbrook Elks Lodge, and has raised over $417,000 in the past twelve (12) events. Net proceeds have been donated to Patient Care Services at Yale New Haven Hospital Smilow Center and at Middlesex Hospital. The event is targeted to help those in need fo

r items not covered by insurance, and goes directly to the care of these patients. This event has grown to become the largest Elk event in New England, and one of the most successful Elk events in the Nation! The event takes place all day on the beach, and features live entertainment from the shoreline areas best bands (many being Elk members) and features a full bar, rain or shine tents, delicious food, silent auction, merchandise, children activities, fun on the beach, and more!!! The Beach Jam Committee Chairs (Jim Pino Jr. and Nancy Malafronte) recently received the Elks Outstanding Service Commendation as Dedicated Volunteers, and accepted their awards on behalf of all of the incredible Beach Jam Volunteers! The first volunteer meeting for this year's Beach Jam will be taking place this month (details to be sent soon). Pictured: Jim, PER and 5yr Trustee Rick Newberg, Nancy, and new Exalted Ruler Mark Morin. It should also be noted that Rick and Mark have been huge encouraging supporters of the Beach Jam and all other volunteer events, and continue to do a phenomenal job at the Lodge!
