The venue, located on Columbia Point, features permanent exhibits on the 35th President's life, his political career, and legacy.

Key features include the landmark building designed by architect I.M. Pei, historical artifacts — including a Jackie Kennedy dress, short introductory films, and scenic waterfront views next to the UMass Boston campus.

Food is available on site at the JFK Cafe, a self-serve dining facility overlooking the Boston skyline and Dorchester Bay.

Our next ‘Lunch Bunch’ road trip is scheduled for this coming Friday, September 4, when we visit the Aviation Museum of New Hampshire and Airport Diner in Manchester, NH.

Just a few seats remain for our bus trip adventure to visit the famous Castle in the Clouds on Friday, September 25!

After building his fortune in the shoe industry in the early 1900s, Tom Plant set his sights on the Ossipee Mountains in Moultonborough, NH. Between 1913 and 1914, he and his wife, Olive, created an extraordinary country estate called Lucknow. Spanning 6,300 acres, the property featured a 16-room Arts and Crafts–style mansion, a stable with a six-car garage, two gatehouses, a greenhouse, a golf course, a tennis court, a man-made lake, a boathouse on Lake Winnipesaukee, and miles of scenic carriage and bridle trails.

For several years, the Plants enjoyed a luxurious lifestyle at Lucknow, surrounded by modern conveniences, finely crafted furnishings, and a full staff to maintain the estate. Today, visitors can take a guided tour of the historic 1914 mansion and its stunning grounds. Explore the main floors, view original furnishings and vintage clothing, and learn about unique features such as the central vacuum system and needle showers.

While visiting, be sure to stop by the art exhibit gallery and gift shop. You can also enjoy lunch at the on-site Carriage House Restaurant, which offers soups, salads, sandwiches, and other light fare. Afterward, treat yourself to ice cream at the Café in the Clouds, just a short walk down the hill.

On Friday, we made our first-ever ‘Lunch Bunch’ trip to Bethel, ME, visiting the Maine Mineral & Gem Museum before having lunch at the highly-recommended Butcher Burger Bethel!

Join us for an exciting and educational outing aboard our new 28-passenger bus to the Maine Mineral & Gem Museum in Bethel, followed by a delicious lunch at Butcher Burger Bethel!

Nestled in the heart of Bethel, the Maine Mineral & Gem Museum sparks curiosity through hands-on learning, innovative research, and engaging exhibits that highlight Maine’s remarkable geologic story. REGISTRATION NOW OPEN - Westbrook Explorers Outdoor Adventure Club w/the Westbrook Community Center!

Westbrook Explorers Outdoor Adventure Club is a six-week program offered to Westbrook Middle School students in Grades 5-8. Each session, featuring hiking, outdoor play, and exploration at different parks, trails, and landmarks, will be roughly two hours long with a new and exciting location each week.

When: Early-Release Wednesdays - 9/30, 10/7, 10/14, 10/21, 10/28 & 11/4

Rain or shine. Unless there is lightning, this program will be outside at local trails and natural areas. Appropriate clothing and shoes are required. It's recommended to dress in layers and be overly-prepared for seasonal weather.

We'll provide shuttle transportation aboard our 28-passenger bus from the Westbrook Middle School - at dismissal time - to our weekly destination, and then back to the Westbrook Community Center, where parents will be required to pick-up their child(ren) by 5pm each Wednesday.

Itinerary:

• Week 1: September 30 - Pump House Trail (Gorham) - The loop is located behind the University of Southern Maine Gorham campus.

• Week 2: October 7 - Sylvan Trail (S**o) - The trail is mostly wooded and travels through wetland areas with bog boards in place to help cross through.

• Week 3: October 14 - Greely Woods (Cumberland) - Greely Woods is mostly wooded, has a meandering stream that runs through it, and is within walking distance to several neighborhoods in Cumberland Center, Main Street, and the Greely school campus.

• Week 4: October 21 - Horton Woods (S**o) - A 100-acre wildlife preserve obtained by the City of S**o under the Land for S**o’s Future program. The sanctuary comprises a diverse confluence of ecological habitats including mature upland forest, fields, marsh, stream, vernal pools and wetland.

• Week 5: October 28 - Chaffin Pond Trail (Windham) - The Donna Beth Lippman Park formerly known as the Chaffin Pond Preserve is a 123-acre wooded area in northern part of Windham. There is a 10-acre pond on the property.

• Week 6: November 4 - McCrann Preserve (Falmouth) - This trail network winds through the forest and along Johnson Branch and the East Branch of the Piscataqua River.
