Dignity Matters

Dignity Matters Dignity Matters is a non-profit that provides free menstrual care, underwear and bras to women & girls living in poverty

Dignity Matters is a non-profit organization that supplies feminine hygiene products and underwear to women who are homeless or otherwise in need, in order to help them stay healthy, regain self-confidence, and live with basic dignity. It is hard to imagine, but there are women in your community and almost every community in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, who cannot afford these basic necessities

. These women are often homeless and they are commonly single mothers, low-income mothers, or women and teens who escaped domestic violence and cannot safely return home. Homeless women, every month face the humiliating reality of no access to tampons or pads. Their dilemma of having to choose between buying food to survive or tampons is common. Why homeless women DESPERATELY need tampons, pads and bras:

- They are rarely donated to charities
- Food stamps do not cover them
- Asking strangers for sanitary products is humiliating
- Most shelters cannot cope with the demand for these items (indeed, tampons and pads are needed every month). Having limited, or no access to female hygiene products leaves some women alone – in what amounts to a monthly crisis. Here, at Dignity Matters, we could not pretend that this is not happening. As WOMEN, we decided to do something about this issue. We are here to help other women in a practical and personal way. You can tangibly improve the lives of women and teenage girls by joining our cause. It can be as simple as taking 5 minutes out of your day, giving 5 dollars, or donating a pack of tampons or a gently used bra that you no longer need. Dignity Matters is based in Wayland, MA, and oversees operations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. If you are interested in joining our efforts in any capacity we would like to hear from you.

1.7 MILLION times a student could attend class without worry or shame during her period! We're so proud of our 10-year partnership with Catie's Closet and so grateful to all the donors and volunteers that make it possible. What an incredible example of how many more lives we can change for the better when we work together!

Some partnerships make an impact far beyond what words can measure, and our partnership with Dignity Matters is one of them.

Over the past 10 years, they have donated more than 1,700,000 period products to help stock our in-school closets with this essential care item that too many students otherwise go without.

We share a belief that basic dignity is a right. No student should have to miss class, feel embarrassed, or carry the stress of not having access to period products. What may seem like a small item can make an enormous difference for a student navigating school, friendships, activities, and everyday life. Through this partnership, students have consistent, immediate access to period products, helping them feel more comfortable, confident, and supported throughout the day.

Thank you, Dignity Matters, for working with us to help create schools where students feel seen, respected, and valued. 💙

Thank you UCC MEDFIELD for another wonderful Mother's Day DigniTEA! These funds will help hundreds of women manage their periods safely over the next year. Massive thanks to everyone who donated and bid on auction items, decorated a table, and volunteered their time and energy to make the DigniTEA possible. And special thanks to the wonderful Laurie Carlsen Mills for all you do, year-round, to help women and girls live with dignity 💕

What an incredible afternoon of generosity, community, and dignity.

Thank you to everyone who supported our DigniTea Matters tea and silent auction — the 70 guests who attended, the 15 amazing student volunteers who served so joyfully, and the many others in our community who bid on auction items and gave so generously.

Together, you helped raise over $14,000 to provide essential menstrual products for those experiencing period poverty. Wow!

Thank you for showing up in such a powerful way to help us restore justice and dignity to those who need it most. We are so grateful for this community and how you love like Jesus!
