Unexpectedly Opera Bringing performance of opera into homeless shelters - a sharing of opera for all - a sense of connec

Unexpectedly Opera will bring operatic performances into Homeless Shelters in the Greater Toronto Area. Short-term plans will involve partnering with existing productions; longer term possibilities include a potential for producing our own productions. Additional possibilities include conducting short workshops on various aspects of operatic production to be held in the shelters. As we grow, and m

ounting our own productions becomes possible, we could even allow for participants in Homeless Shelters to directly participate in the productions themselves. The overall goal of the project is not simply to bring something inspiring and fun into Homeless Shelters, but it is to bring the Homeless Shelter into the minds of the opera-lovers community. By sharing the love of opera with people of all circumstance, we start to soften the barriers between "them" and "us" no matter which side of the home-circumstance you find yourself, and we enhance the affinity and connectedness of all.
