New regulation to focus municipal environmental assessment requirements: Ontario is seeking input on proposed refinements to the Environmental Assessment framework for municipal infrastructure projects.

Key updates include:
• A new archaeological assessment process for certain municipal projects, with mandatory Indigenous notification and consultation
• Refinements to the streamlined EA process, including clearer requirements for consultation, documentation, timelines, and addenda
• Revised project lists, including continued EA requirements for some private sector water and sewage projects
• Greater flexibility in timelines, while maintaining ministerial oversight where Aboriginal or Treaty rights may be affected

Members may wish to review the proposal and consider providing feedback.
