The Loran Scholars Foundation builds meaningful, positive change across Canada and beyond by empowering young people to create a better future. Loran looks beyond grades to identify promising young people with character—those with curiosity and courage to push boundaries and challenge the status quo; those who look beyond themselves and commit to service to improve lives; and those who demonstrate intrinsic leadership potential. Loran Scholars benefit from a four-year, comprehensive leadership-enrichment program, financial support, and a lifelong network of values-driven peers and mentors—unlike anything else offered in this country. La Fondation Boursiers Loran croit que, pour repérer les jeunes prometteur·euse·s, il faut regarder au-delà des notes et trouver des étudiant·e·s doté·e·s d’une grande force de caractère. Nous sommes à la recherche de personnes qui font preuve d’un engagement à venir en aide et d’une volonté de diriger avec intégrité. Ensemble, les boursier·ère·s et les ancien·ne·s boursier·ère·s repoussent les limites dans un vaste éventail de domaines, notamment la technologie, les arts, le droit, la médecine, les sciences, l’éducation et les finances. Où que leurs chemins les mènent, les Boursier·ère·s Loran sont uni·e·s par leur engagement à bâtir un monde meilleur.

Are you a student interested in learning more about Canada’s most significant and valuable undergraduate award? Join us on Wednesday, Sept. 30 ET to hear firsthand from Loran Scholars Vincent Wong and Emma Harris.

Emma Harris is a 2021 McCall MacBain Loran Scholar from Winnipeg, Manitoba. She studied environmental engineering at the University of British Columbia and is currently working as an Industrial Systems Engineer-in-Training for Efficiency Manitoba.

Vincent Wong is a 2021 Scace Loran Scholar from Vancouver, British Columbia, and completed a BSc in Neuroscience at McGill University. He is currently pursuing graduate studies in epidemiology and health service improvement at the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar.
