I created Murphy's Toronto Dog Rescue (MTDR) at the beginning of 2016, when I realized that it really was possible to help the helpless dogs I had been seeing all over the internet. In December of 2015, I drove to the US to pick up my new family members, Murphy and Joey. They had been [separate] homeless dogs in Alabama and were in line to be euthanized. Almost a year later, they have shown to be
the most loving dogs and nothing short of family. I have always had a love for animals and always knew that I was meant to help them. With the help of fosters, transportation volunteers, and friends and family, I am able to make it happen. I take dogs from bad situations in the states; whether they are in shelters, on craigslist (very dangerous for them) or simply sought to find a new family by their owners. The benefit of bringing them to Canada is that they automatically become much more valuable, as Canada has a much lower stray & dog-euthanization rate. I am very selective in choosing the perfect family home for each dog – they don't go to just anybody.
