🌧️ A quick update on Saturday's forecast: we're keeping a close eye on it.

We're working on a plan to make sure the Gardener's Celebration of Fall happens rain or shine — including looking at whether we need to move to an alternate location. We'll make a final call on Thursday and let you know right away.

Check back with us then! In the meantime, keep those fingers crossed for us. 🤞

Truth be told, Saturday's event is all about the garlic. It could be renamed "Garlic Appreciation Day" or just "GarlicFest" but I think you get the point. Iowa gardeners love growing hardneck garlic.

So we went all out and ordered a HUNDRED POUNDS of the best Iowa-grown garlic to offer a special price for attendees.

We procured German Extra Hardy from Grade A Gardens that we'll be offering by the 1/2 pound for $10-$12 donation.

We're readying the Garlic Lover's Packs, which include a great sampling of these: PSKEM River, Chesnok Red, Montana Zemo, Romanian Red, Armenian and Jumbo German - all grown chemical-free by Yellow Table Farm in Tripoli IA. Get yours for a suggested donation of $20-$25 while they last at the Gardener's Celebration of Fall this Saturday 9/26. (event link in comments).

And for those still a little unsure, pickup one FREE garlic head to try.

This is a great opportunity to try fall-planted garlic in your garden and learn why the hardneck variations make homegrown garlic so special and superior over store-bought garlic.

Need one more reason to come to this Saturday's event? Well here you go...Bay Laurel healthy starter trees for just $12.00 each.

These 4-6" established rooted cuttings will provide a steady supply of flavorful bay leaves for your favorite soups and stews. Although Laurus nobilis is not hardy in Zone 5 central Iowa, it will happily thrive for three seasons in an outdoor container, then come indoors for the winter months.

Stop by the propogation station this Saturday during the Gardener's Celebration of Fall to get yours before they sell out.

Come out to enjoy the live music, food trucks, cool vendors, free seeds and demos, tasting table and more festivities while grabbing a wonderful addition to your kitchen garden. You'll enjoy a lovely day celebrating the autumn harvest season with our gardening community! Event details are in the comments.
