๐ฃ Please take the time to READ ALL of this!
If Sista Soul Fest ever gave your business a chance, a table, a first โyes,โ or the confidence to step into entrepreneurship or encouraged your heart to follow your dreams, this message is for you. โค๏ธ
Before Sista Soul Fest, in Des Moines, many doors were closed to women-owned businesses, Black businesses, women of color, and young girl entrepreneurs. Together, we opened them.
In addition, many of you were given reduced vendor fees so this space could remain accessible. Some were able to honor those commitments, and we thank you sincerely. If you werenโt able to, this is a simple invitation to give back.
We also helped change the narrative of Evelyn K. Davis Park, through art, music, storytelling, and unity, we helped transform it into a space of hope, healing, and visibility. Today, more events happen there because the narrative shifted, and you were part of that shift.
We are also facing the possibility of losing our location at Evelyn K. Davis Park. In previous years a lot of the unpaid amounts have been covered personally by the founder, and that is not sustainable or fair. This movement was never meant to rest on one person, it belongs to all of us.
This past year, the climate changed. We had one sponsor and only a handful of individual donations. That support, while appreciated, has not been enough. If 600 people gave $5, or 1,000 people gave $5, we could cover our current debt and have funds to begin planning for August 2026, our 7th year!
Now, we are asking you to help us continue this work. We need our community.
You can donate through our website and share our needs with others. If you know sponsors, supporters, or businesses looking to support a nonprofit, please remember that Sista Soul Fest is a nonprofit organization and all donations are tax-deductible.
