This afternoon, just before 1:00, the company was dispatched to the city for a house fire. City units arrived with smoke showing from the rear and found a rear balcony on fire. Upon the arrival of Eng. 1, it was directed to attempt to make access to the rear via the alley. As the crew was spotting the engine to back down the alley and access was confirmed, command had made the decision that the fire was under control and could handled with city units. Co. 1 was placed in service.

2 min. before midnight, Co. 1 and surrounding mutual aid companies were dispatched to the Borough for a house fire in the 1500 block of W. Philadelphia St. 1st arriving units found a chair on fire in the street. The chair was originally on fire, on the front porch but thanks to the quick actions of West York Borough PD, they were able to remove the chair and get it away from the dwelling resulting in no damage or fire spread to the home.

It’s times like these that make us extremely proud to work side by side with our brothers and sisters in blue !! There professionalism and selflessness shined tonight when, without hesitation, for just a moment in time, they wanted to be fireman.

The box was reduced to Eng. 1 and extinguished with a PW can. In all seriousness, PD’s actions prevented a significant fire loss tonight and for that, we are thankful !!
