Home Remedies Project

Home Remedies Project Advocating public/private collaborations that develop minor home mods service providers to the elder A curriculum is being written.

A training tool to share the experiences gained over 15 years, providing minor home modification services to the elderly and their caregivers.,

The curriculum will be used to help partner the private sector with the public sector. The trust that a training curriculum provides, along with a clear business plan based on real world practical experiences, working with grants and service contracts,

targeting a demographic we have yet to understand the size of, seems like a worthwhile goal I would like to see results on. What if the Home Remedies Project helped the public and private sectors work together, to create new caregiver support programs. What you would have is development of new private service business who have met proscribed requirements to operate, offering vouchers for specific services, funded and with oversight by local community agencies. The greatest barrier to independent living, is the lack of trustworthy service providers, that offer minor home modifications to the frail and elderly. Would this be one solution to the Aging in Place question? If you would like more information on how to have someone from your community attend training, visit www.hrpro.me

Have you ever wondered why some seniors are just mad at everything? As a caregiver, it can be rough caring for someone who is just not happy.
I have come to realize that anger is one of the seven stages of grief. The grieving process is very personal and often related to the loss of independence.
We first gained our sense of independence as little kids when we broke from our parents. Raising a family and having a career meant making all your own decisions. A life time of it.
The fact they now have a caregiver, means they have lost that sense and grieve that loss.
As a caregiver, helping the grieving process along to the acceptance stage could benefit the whole family.

The Home Remedies Project would like to hear from you about interest in developing an independent living strategist in your community. Developing new caregiver support programs is best done with both private and public sectors involved. The Home Remedies Project is ready to help train both sectors to work together

I have recieved some e mail from USC sharing their interest in helping the Home Remedies Project develop curriculum to train future independent living strategists. Caregiver support programs are going to be needed as the baby boomers will become a VERY LARGE demographic in this country. Seems the past 17 years experience supplying services to the frail and elderly might get put to good use

The idea of the Home Remedies Project is to develop more caregiver support programs by training more independent living strategists. It is one thing for a case manager to do a needs assessment and recommend grab bars, and quite another to have someone participating in the HRP, offerering vouchers for service who also does a needs assessmnt, but then says I have them on my truck and is ready to install them.

Meeting Friday with potential new board member. Marcia seems very interested in the Home Remedies Project. I have known her for years as a client of Home Remedies. Several modifications around her home were needed for mobility reasons. I hope to post some thoughts going forward after we speak in a few days.

The truth of the matter is that we may not have any choice BUT to live in our own homes longer. It has taken 50 years to build the existing housing inventory in this country today. Do you think we can flip a switch and have enough "Universal Designed " homes for a growing demographic we have yet to understand the size of. The Mission statement for my company (Home Remedies) has always been to "facilitate the homecoming of recovering patients through the modification of the home environment. A personalized approach, to your specific set of circumstances, by someone trained in offering minor home modification services to the elderly and their caregivers, able to offer vouchers for specific services. Ramps and grab bars are just a couple of the many common solutions we will all face someday. By bringing the public and private sectors together is the best way to grow the number of trusted and recognized service providers. The nonprofit Home Remedies Project (501c3) is all about advocating and sharing a history based business model. A training program designed to devlop more "Independent Living Strategist"
I hope you follow the Home Remedies Project as we grow.
Fundraising will begin soon enough. A lot of written materials and postage need to be funded,
A trusted, reliable, consistent, responsable, service provider for our caregivers will come from our efforts.
