Here's a glimpse into our strawberry food science labs this week....🍓

8th Grade AFNR students started the week with making four strawberry rhubarb crumb pies to give out as thank you gifts! Our Buildings and Grounds Team, Mr. Grosfent and Mr. Rathbone were irreplaceable on strawberry delivery day!! They made sure we had the proper equipment to move product, they got everything safely into the building, and they were so efficient.

Yesterday these students made homemade biscuits and shortcake for our fundraiser celebration today! 🍓🌟 All students who participated in the fundraiser were invited to the Middle School Agriculture Classroom for strawberry shortcake, complete with homemade whipped cream. 😋

Mount Markham Junior FFA would like to extend a HUGE

🍓🌟THANK YOU 🌟🍓

to everyone in our community who supported our strawberry fundraiser!! The berries arrived this past Wednesday and we know families have enjoyed eating them plain, adding them to their favorite desserts, freezing them and making jam!!

Our 8th Grade Introduction to Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources class washed and refrigerated 3 1/2 flats for food science activities next week. Stay tuned to check out their delicious creations!! 👍🏻🍓

We are so proud of Harlie for representing Mount Markham Junior FFA well at Central Region Sub-States today!! 💙💛 She worked very hard on improving her presentation from Districts…. including memorizing her entire speech! Great job, Harlie! 🌟

The Middle School Agriculture Classroom was a VERY busy place today!! 🍓📘🐮📚

We welcomed our 5th grade students to the classroom where our 7th and 8th grade students conducted this year's Agricultural Literacy Week Activity! They ran the lesson from start to finish, where they:
👍🏻 reviewed agriculture vocabulary
📚 read this year's book aloud
🌟 provided students with a beef stick snack
🧠 brainstormed what happens on a beef farm throughout the year
🖍️ helped students complete a seasons on the farm activity

It's a good thing our students practiced and worked hard on their presentation, because today was ALSO strawberry delivery day so many people worked on this project at the same time!! 🍓💙💛🍓 Our Junior FFA members sold 🌟236🌟 flats which meant a lot of moving, stacking, quality control and sorting. But, we got it done with the help of key faculty and staff support, great students, and awesome family members. 💪🏻

At the end of the day, this is what agriculture education is all about.

📢 EVENT UPDATE: Date Change

The FFA Central Region Substate Competition has been postponed due to severe weather impacting several participating regions across New York. The competition will now take place on Saturday, March 21, 2026.

With the new date, we are still in need of judges, timers, and volunteers to help the event run smoothly. This competition gives FFA members the opportunity to showcase their public speaking skills, and we’d love to have community members involved.

Mount Markham Junior FFA had an awesome National FFA Week! 💙💛

🎉 Students and staff celebrated with Spirit Week!

🐄🌱 Students created banners to display their passion for agriculture and FFA in our school.

🏆 Students completed a scavenger hunt for prizes!

🥳 Students ended the week with FFA trivia, prizes and snacks in the agriculture classroom.

🌟 Agriculture education provides our students with the opportunity to develop premier leadership, personal growth and career success. 🌟
